With support from the California Arts Council, INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARY ASSOCIATION INC will continue to offer an ongoing robust slate of support educational and cultural services for documentary filmmakers.
IDA delivers programs and content designed for our 3,600 members and the broader international documentary community. Programs include filmmaker support, grantmaking, year round educational services including webinars and workshops, Getting Real, our biennial conference about the art and business of documentary filmmaking, screening programs, and the quarterly publication of Documentary Magazine.
IDA’s key initiatives reflect four programmatic pillars:
Advocacy: Coordinated international resistance to suppression tactics, emergency hotline, media relations, filmmaker assistance program,and legal aid fund.
Convening: Getting Real conference with increased international reach, events and programs nationally and internationally.
Knowledge Sharing: Sustained quarterly Documentary Magazine with expanded investigative capacity, enhanced documentary.org platform, and comprehensive professional resource directories.
Filmmaker Services: Access to insurance, training in safety, security and other critical skills, visa support, partnerships to provide pro bono legal services, and R&D on strategies to connect films to audiences.
