Project Description
The Stage is seeking CAC support to help more children and teens throughout Placer County discover the confidence, creativity, friendships, and sense of belonging that can happen through the performing arts. For many of the families we serve, theater becomes more than a performance — it becomes a safe place to grow, connect, and feel truly seen.
Grant funding will support inclusive musical theater workshops, summer camps, mentorship opportunities, and youth externships for ages 6–19, including hands-on experience in directing, stage management, costume design, lighting, sound, and production management.
Funding will also help us continue offering financial-need scholarships and inclusive programming for neurodiverse participants through programs like Broadway Besties, ensuring every child has the opportunity to belong, create, and shine both on and off the stage.
Organization Summary
Currently, WPAA offers a comprehensive children and youth theatre program through The Stage. Children ages 5-13 are offered four two week work shops And two 10 week mini musicals a year. Youth are offered two youth productions a year. Both our children and youth productions encompass theatrical training, not just paid workshop performances. The children’s workshops encompass foundations dance, acting, and vocal training, while the youth productions require three hours a week of skill building in all three disciplines. In this way, WPAA is equipping students to use their artistic skills anywhere and throughout their lives, in a healthy and sustainable way, limiting injury, burnout, and unrealistic expectations. WPAA offers tuition scholarships to students in need, as Lincoln is home to many families under the poverty line.
