Grant Program

General Operating Support

Award Amount

$18,000.00

Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, LOMPOC VALLEY ART ASSOCIATION will anchor local arts access and solidify organizational capacity in the Lompoc Valley. Assistance with general operating expenses and procedural documentation through a generational leadership transition is critical to the organization in the coming year. Funds will also sustain consistent outreach, clearer public communications, and free monthly programming through Cypress Gallery, broadening local impact. LVAA will preserve and strengthen volunteer-led operations while improving the systems that keep those operations viable: member onboarding, gallery procedures, marketing coordination, accessibility information, and public program planning. To ensure creative labor in Lompoc is fairly compensated, grant funds will also provide stipends for member artists and presenters who lead free public programs.

Organization Summary

Each month, the Cypress Gallery brings to our community a new show
of art, planned and arranged by its members. The gallery is owned and
operated by the Lompoc Valley Art Association, an active community
organization that has drawn local artists together since 1965. Desiring
a permanent, public space to exhibit their artwork, LVAA established
the Cypress Gallery in 1994, creating a local art space for the benefit of
all. Members include both amateur and professional artists, who work
in a wide range of media, and businesses / organizations interested in
or promoting the arts.
