With support from the California Arts Council, GLOBAL VILLAGE FOUNDATION will, in collaboration with The Amerasian Coalition, implement a storytelling initiative addressing the “long tail” of trauma within Southern California’s Amerasian community. Moving beyond historical retelling, this project explores the psychological aftermath and intergenerational mental health challenges faced by those born during the Vietnam conflict.
Grant funds will support artist fees, production, and 3–6 free public screenings featuring facilitated healing circles. These sessions provide safe spaces for 150–300 participants to process long-standing trauma, navigate fragmented identities, and build community resilience. By leveraging The Amerasian Coalition’s statewide network, the initiative creates a scalable, trauma-informed model for cultural activation. This project transforms documentary arts into a vital tool for mental wellness and social reconciliation across California.
The Global Village Foundation (GVF) focuses on sustainable development and grassroots empowerment programs that are designed to provide long-term self-sufficiency through three main pillars: education, healthcare, and humanitarian relief.
