With support from the California Arts Council, Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival will sustain and expand its year-round programming as the oldest and longest-running Annual Solo Theatre Festival for women in Los Angeles. CAC funds totaling $30,000 will offset core operational and program expenses including production, marketing, artist stipends, and educational programming.
These funds will directly support LAWTF’s Annual Solo Theatre Festival, Empowerment Weekend educational workshops and panels, and Hot Off the Press new works reading series — ensuring continued access to multicultural and multidisciplinary solo performance by and for the diverse communities of Los Angeles.
Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival produces an Annual Theatre Festival that presents diverse, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary solo shows created and developed by women each March during Women’s History Month. Each year, LAWTF also presents outreach programming that includes “Hot Off The Press” (a new works solo reading series), “Wine Down Wednesday” (our social and networking mixer), and “Empowerment Weekend” (annual symposium of workshops and panels tailored for solo artists). Our overall programming is designed with the intention of empowering women through both the presentation and development of their own work, thus making them autonomous and self-sustaining as successful, working artists.
