Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, Oakland Civic Orchestra Association will provide three to four orchestral performances with compelling programming that includes both traditional repertoire and works by women, lesser-known, and other under-represented composers. OCOA is made up of skilled musicians who represent the diversity of Oakland. CAC funds will support our Assistant Conductor and Composer-in-Residence programs and the performance and recording of new and unfamiliar orchestral works. We will also hire emerging guest soloists to perform with the orchestra. Grant funds will also support OCOA in continuing to provide high-quality concerts at Valley Center for the Performing Arts, an ADA-compliant venue, which will increase our impact on and accessibility to the wider San Francisco Bay Area and empower us to partner with more community organizations.
