With support from the California Arts Council, Olive Branch Theatricals Inc. will strengthen its ongoing operations and capacity to serve the community year-round. General Operating Support funds will be used to produce high-quality live theatrical productions, including securing performance rights and purchasing necessary props and scenic materials. Funds will also support rent payments for OBT’s rehearsal space, scene shop, costume storage at the Valencia Town Center, and The Olive Branch community performance venue. This support ensures that local artists continue to have access to an affordable, professional live performance space for creation, collaboration, and presentation. CAC funding will further advance OBT’s mission of providing equitable, accessible, and inclusive arts experiences for artists, audiences, and community members throughout the Santa Clarita Valley and surrounding areas.
Olive Branch Theatricals is a California‑based performing arts organization committed to advancing equity, access, and community connection through artist‑centered theatrical programming. Guided by the belief that the arts are a public good, the organization prioritizes historically underserved artists and audiences, including BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, low‑income, and emerging creative communities.
The core of Olive Branch Theatricals’ work is its inclusive performance and engagement programs, which create meaningful opportunities for artists to produce work and for audiences to experience theater that reflects diverse perspectives and lived experiences. Through the development and presentation of plays, staged readings, workshops, and new works, the organization supports artistic experimentation, cultural expression, and professional growth. All programming emphasizes fair artist compensation, collaborative creative processes, and audience accessibility.
Community engagement is integrated across programs through post‑performance discussions, participatory events, and partnerships with local organizations. These activities use theater as a tool for dialogue, empathy‑building, and civic participation, encouraging connection across cultures, generations, and communities. Educational offerings—including workshops and skill‑building experiences—are designed for learners at all stages, with a focus on confidence, creative voice, and relationship‑building in welcoming and affirming environments.
In support of this programmatic work, Olive Branch Theatricals also stewards The Olive Branch, a shared performance space that enables the organization’s activities and is made available to other companies and independent artists. This stewardship strengthens the broader arts ecosystem by reducing barriers to production, but serves the larger goal of expanding access to impactful programming.
Support from the California Arts Council for operating expenses is essential to sustaining core programs, administrative capacity, and artist compensation. This investment allows Olive Branch Theatricals to advance CAC goals by delivering equitable, community‑centered arts programming that enriches California’s diverse cultural landscape.
