Project Description

This proposal seeks CAC support for Saikat, a multidisciplinary cultural initiative presenting South Asian arts through inclusive, community-centered programming. Funds will support three flagship events: Fall Festival (Oct 17–18, 2026), Spring Festival (Feb 13, 2027), and Summer Cultural Night (July 10, 2027), along with smaller activities. Programming includes classical, folk, fusion, and Bollywood music and dance; performances by renowned Indian artists; and youth showcases in dance, music, and drama. Grant funds will cover artist stipends, rehearsal space, costumes, production, outreach, and documentation. Events will be low-cost and accessible, engaging diverse and underserved audiences while fostering cross-cultural dialogue. With expected attendance of 1,000–1,200 people from across Southern California, the initiative promotes cultural equity, supports emerging artists, and builds sustainable partnerships, creating a replicable model for community-driven arts programming statewide.
