The primary program is a six-concert summer series held at Mancini Bowl in Modesto’s Graceada Park, which is free and open to the public. These concerts attract thousands of community members each season and provide a fun outdoor space for families, friends, and neighbors to experience live music in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

The Modesto Band of Stanislaus County (MoBand) boasts a 106-year-old history of commitment to the cultural life of Modesto and Stanislaus County. MoBand is truly a community band. There are no fees, no auditions and no attendance requirements. Any person who plays a band instrument and has graduated the eighth grade can participate, attend rehearsals, and play in one or all six summer concerts. Outside of the summer, there are also opportunities to play in MoBand “On The Go” and in concert ensembles at events such as The Salvation Army Kettle Kick Off luncheon or at the Modesto Nuts baseball games.

In preparation for each summer concert, MoBand holds two weekly rehearsals. The season’s rehearsals function as an informal, tuition-free “band camp.” These rehearsals offer valuable educational and mentorship opportunities, particularly for younger or less experienced musicians. By playing alongside seasoned performers, emerging musicians gain firsthand experience in musical preparation, ensemble collaboration, and the discipline required to perform a full concert. This intergenerational exchange of skills and knowledge strengthens the local music community and fosters personal growth and confidence among youth participants as well as the more experienced participants.
MoBand also offers scholarships to promising student musicians. These scholarships help recipients pursue their studies in music and support the next generation of artists and reinforcing MoBand’s commitment to community enrichment through music.
