With support from the California Arts Council, WOMENS THEATRE COLLECTIVE will deliver You’ve Got the Power!, a free school-based theatre program for Title I elementary students in Sacramento, combining live performance, workshops, and classroom materials to support social-emotional learning and mental well-being. CAC funds will support artist fees, program development, and touring costs, enabling high-quality, culturally responsive arts learning for underserved youth while removing financial and logistical barriers. Building on existing school partnerships and prior touring work, including Safe at Home: The Jackie Robinson Story, the program will pair a developmentally appropriate performance with pre- and post-show materials, facilitated talkbacks, and interactive workshops led by teaching artists. Through drama-based activities, creative expression, and guided dialogue, students will explore emotional regulation, communication, empathy, and self-expression while building confidence, collaboration, and critical thinking skills.
