With support from the California Arts Council, FORT MASON ARTISTS would like to support artists access to training in general, but especially those with financial needs. A particularly underserved group close to our hearts, is the older adults. We seek to restore the equivalency of CCSF’s former older adults program in the arts, which they eliminated in 2019. This Grant would allow more older adults with limited income to participate in our classes. It would allow us to lower tuition and strengthen our scholarship program, boost general access and lower the price-point for our students. We are noticing a trend in working adults who have been recently laid off, who no longer participate in classes. We will expand our scholarship program to those individuals as well, and create a qualifying criteria for those financial hardships.
As a self-sufficient non-profit, we channel all of our energy and resources into art, art making, retaining and expanding our art community, with a focus on our wider social interactions and cultural contributions.
With engaging classes, guest lecturers, member exhibits in shows and a vibrant workspace for individuals, we provide customizable services to Artists and Art-lovers of all walks of life.
