With support from the California Arts Council, DESERT COMMUNITY ORCHESTRA ASSOCATION will support the Desert Community Orchestra’s operations and performances throughout the season. This includes music purchase and rental, performance venue rental, equipment purchase and maintenance, conductor and guest soloist costs, and local advertisement. The Association will also use funds to provide college scholarships to local young musicians for continuing education in music, and funding assistance for middle and high school students to participate in summer music camps and further musical educational opportunities.
The Desert Community Orchestra Association provides administrative and financial support to the Desert Community Orchestra, a local performing group. The Association provides payment for conductors, guest soloists, and professional musicians that perform with the orchestra. The Association works with the incoming conductors to choose appropriate music for performance by the orchestra and soloists. Performance spaces and materials necessary for performances are provided by the Association. In addition, the Association administers the annual Peter Pinto Scholarship Program, a program that provides students from elementary school to graduating high school seniors funds to attend music camps or funds for college education majoring in music.
