With support from the CAC, Reel Start will sustain and strengthen its Los Angeles Creative Workforce Pipeline, a no‑cost yearlong filmmaking and workforce‑readiness program serving 13 public high school students and 7 emerging creatives from historically under-resourced communities in the San Fernando Valley. This grant will underwrite core staff, operating and accessibility costs that make this pipeline possible, including program coordination, artist‑educator compensation, rent, utilities, insurance, and access services. During the grant period, students will participate in an after-school filmmaking lab at a Title I LAUSD high school in Reseda, collaborating with professional filmmakers to write, produce, and premiere an original short film while earning IMDb credits and portfolio assets. Alumni will continue into Reel Steps, receiving structured career‑readiness training, mentorship, and support securing internships, entry‑level roles, or postsecondary opportunities in film and television.
