Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, Saint Remy Arts will sustain and expand its free, trauma informed and culturally rooted arts programming for individuals living with mental illness, PTSD, and systemic exclusion across Los Angeles County and the Inland Empire. As a Latinx and disability led nonprofit, Saint Remy serves BIPOC, LGBTQ+, unhoused, migrant, at-promise youth and low-income communities through weekly workshops in visual/performing arts.

CAC funds will support teaching artist wages, staff capacity, artist residencies, and program materials, ensuring all classes remain free and accessible. Funding will also support Saint Remy’s new community space in Upland and its expanded programming, including a Latinx Artist in Residence and Intern in Residence program from a HSI.

This investment will strengthen organizational capacity, deepen community partnerships, and increase access to consistent, healing centered arts experiences.

Saint Remy Arts & Culture is a Latinx and disability-led nonprofit committed to advancing equity at the intersection of arts and mental health. We provide free, trauma-informed, and culturally rooted art programing for individuals living with mental illness, PTSD, and systemic exclusion. We believe art is a human right that fosters emotional, physical, spiritual, and communal wellbeing. Through workshops, classes, artist residencies, and exhibitions, we create restorative spaces where BIPOC, LGBTQ, veterans, disabled, and unhoused communities can heal, connect, and reclaim their voices. Guided by empathy, equity, and transparency, we uplift marginalized artists, sustain living-wage teaching opportunities, and model a nontraditional community-centered approach that integrates creativity, social justice, intercultural leadership, and mental health advocacy.
