With support from the California Arts Council, the Yuba County Sutter County Regional Arts Council will implement the Yuba-Sutter Street Art Initiative, a youth-centered public art and placemaking project engaging local high school students, teaching artists, and community partners to design and install large-scale asphalt murals on school campuses and key intersections along Plumas Street in Yuba City. CAC grant funds will support artist stipends, in-school workshops, community design sessions, materials, and mural installation costs, ensuring equitable access for youth who face geographic and economic barriers to arts participation. Students will explore identity, culture, and local history while developing original designs that reflect their lived experiences. The project enhances public safety through traffic-calming artwork while building creative skills, civic engagement, and community pride.
