With support from the California Arts Council, SAN FRANCISCO WOMEN ARTISTS (SFWA) will continue its year-round programming of monthly juried exhibitions of a diversity of Bay Area artists and artisans, as we’ll as hosting exhibits by local community art organizations and special events in our adjoining Artist Salon focusing on equity and access.
The CAC funding will support SFWA as a welcoming and inclusive arts community, providing an accessible gallery space that celebrates cultural diversity while actively promoting broad participation in its programs and activities.
San Francisco Women Artists provides exhibition opportunities, and offers an inviting space for the community to experience art. Our core values remain focused on seeking creative paths to increase the access, diversity, and impact of art in our community, expanding and promoting the representation of women in the arts.
PROGRAMS INCLUDE::
• Presenting monthly juried all-media exhibitions and events in a professional gallery setting that foster a shared, cultural relationship between our artists and the public and in addition promoting monthly exhibits in the Artist Salon.
SFWA strives to present dynamic themes that resonate with artists and our audiences. Each exhibit is juried by a prominent local art consultant, curator, or gallery owner, which ensures both diversity and expertise to each show.
• Showcasing hand-crafted jewelry, ceramics, and sculpture by local artists
• Artist-in-Action demonstrations
• The Gallery’s Artist Salon hosts special events, nonprofit fundraisers, group exhibitions, and invites arts organizations to exhibit in our gallery at no cost.
• Student Intern Program– SFWA partners with the Mayor’s Youth Education & Employment Program (MYEEP) to provide job readiness training, work experience and personal growth opportunities for San Francisco youth
