With support from the California Arts Council, Mounarath Powell Dance (DBA Visionary Dance Theatre) will strengthen its general operating capacity in order to continue providing accessible, community-centered dance education and performance opportunities throughout San Diego County. Grant funds will support artist and instructor compensation, adaptive and youth programming, scholarships and reduced tuition for underserved students, production and rehearsal expenses, outreach efforts, and accessibility improvements for participants and audiences. Funding will also help sustain culturally responsive performances and arts education programs that serve Black, Latino, immigrant, working-class, and differently-abled communities. This support will allow Mounarath Powell Dance to expand equitable access to the arts while continuing to create inclusive spaces for artistic expression, cultural representation, and community engagement.
