With support from the California Arts Council, the Morongo Basin Cultural Arts Council (MBCAC) will strengthen organizational capacity by stabilizing two essential leadership roles—Art Tours Director and Communications/Marketing Director—critical to sustaining the Hwy 62 Open Studio Art Tours (OSAT) as a key piece of cultural and economic infrastructure in the region, now celebrating its 25th year and the largest open studio event in Southern California. These roles have been volunteer-or stipend-supported for two decades and are vital to maintaining program quality and equitable participation. Serving a geographically vast, rural region historically under-resourced in arts funding, the MBCAC expands income-generating opportunities for over 200 artists while connecting more than 20,000 residents and visitors to free, culturally diverse programs. Funding will deepen support for first-time and historically-excluded artists by strengthening outreach and accessibility measures.
