With support from the California Arts Council, CABALLEROS-THE GAY MENS CHORUS OF PALM SPRINGS will sustain vital operations during our FY 26/27 season as the ‘Official Gay Men’s Chorus of Palm Springs.’ Funds will provide essential general operating support, covering personnel costs for our Artistic Director, the addition of a part-time AD Assistant and more hours for our Administrator. As we outgrow our current facilities, these funds will offset rising rental costs and support our transition to a larger rehearsal space required for our 100+ members. Funding will stabilize production expenses, including professional musicians and escalating sheet music costs, for our residency at the restored Plaza Theatre. By securing these foundational needs, the Chorus continues its mission to entertain, inspire, and educate the diverse Coachella Valley community through musical excellence and meaningful civic outreach.
The Chorus presents high-quality choral music performances, featuring diverse repertoire from various cultures and genres, including music by BIPOC, women and LGBTQ+ composers/arrangers, the goal of building bridges of understanding through the universal language of music. The Chorus uses its collective voice to sing for social change, and supports a variety of community organizations and causes in their work to make the Coachella Valley a better place for all. Part of that work includes supporting local Gay-Straight Alliance Clubs in all of the local school districts.
