Throughout its six-decade history, Pasadena Pro Musica has performed a four-concert season each year for the Los Angeles community, featuring a wide range of repertoire, from classical masterworks with orchestra, to contemporary and multi-cultural music selections. PPM presents programs in which concert-goers not only see themselves reflected in the music presented, but can also learn about other cultural traditions. In addition to selecting a diverse array of choral compositions, Artistic Director, Scott Lehmkuhl, takes care to provide interesting commentary and program notes for each concert to educate and enrich the attendees. His connections in the music community help to provide top quality guest artists to share with Pasadena Pro Musica’s audiences.

Where possible, PPM takes the music out of the concert hall and into the community, at collaborative concerts, festivals, and other public events. Many seniors are regular participants in Pasadena Pro Musica’s concerts, so to help more older adults have the opportunity to hear choral music, the singers have recently presented a free concert at the Pasadena Senior Center. While there are many musical opportunities in the Los Angeles area, ticket prices can be out of reach for many concert goers. Pasadena Pro Musica has kept our ticket prices reasonable, at $5 for students, $25 for general admission and free for children under 12, even though costs to present each concert run between $14,000 and $15,000. Parking at Pasadena Pro Musica’s venue is free.

Recent PPM concerts have featured a salute to South American music, “Encantador,” and “Considering Matthew Shepard,” an oratorio by composer Craig Hella Johnson, which poignantly remembers the tragic murder of Matthew Shepard, a member of the LGBTQ community. Other recent performances include “The Light of Hope Returning” by Los Angeles composer, Shawn Kirchner, and “A Celebration of Gospel Music.”
