MAE, our longest-lasting core program, offers free sequential (beginning to advanced) workshops in photography, filmmaking, animation, and comic art & narrative illustration to under-resourced youth ages 9-18. The curriculum also includes college and creative career pathways services, including College Day, 1:1 college mentoring, field trips, guest panels, and more.

Organization Summary

Media Arts Education
Our longest-lasting program offers free sequential (beginning to advanced) workshops in photography, filmmaking, animation, and comic art and narrative illustration to youth age 9-18 during an academic year cycle and a summer Media Arts Camp. It includes Creative Pathways, providing directed support for college and creative careers aspirations.

Center for Creative Workforce Equity (CCWE)
Our new Center supports our creative career development programs for young people through the age of 24. They range from exposure to creative career pathways to education and training in visual storytelling including paid internship, apprenticeships, and job placements. Programs develop creative industry-recognized knowledge, skills, and certifications required for entry into economically viable job pathways into a wide range of jobs and apprenticeships ultimately leading to high-road employment.

Gallery & Public Programs
Free public exhibition programs of high-caliber work by young artists, professional photographers, and filmmakers; with public programs, panels and screenings.

Participatory Documentary Programs
We train, consult, design, and deliver projects for nonprofit organizations, foundations, and academic institutions interested in our unique creative youth development model, or in our participant-produced documentary practices. We have worked with diverse organizations across California & the US, and in Hong Kong, Senegal, South Africa, Mozambique, and Southeast Asia.
