ASCENDtials provides programs on bringing awareness, keeping balanced and aiming for oneness. We offer a variety of wellness services for individuals and groups. Our curriculum includes Kemetic Yoga workshops that bring about true healing and insight into our ancestral practices; Experiential and Service Learning Program, that stimulates and works toward community engagement, social advocacy and environmental justice through activities like: Adopt-A-Highway (partnership with City of San Diego) and Adopt-A-Beach (partnership with I Love A Clean San Diego) clean ups, which contribute to fire protection and environment preservation; Poetry and Writing Club (online workshop to discuss and write on social justice issues such as racism, poverty, community wellness, women’s rights, equal pay, and government representation); and Gardening sessions on how to protect and preserve the soil and watershed, grow fresh pesticide-free fruits, vegetables, herbal plants, grains, and flowers towards self-sufficiency. These sessions take place in our garden located in sunny Bonita, inside the Sweetwater Summit Regional Park, with our Garden expert. Another program we offer is our Creative Youth Development after-school program, Build My Spirit, for students from third to eighth grade, which provides art-based and cultural awareness work to help students deepen their understanding of themselves and others by learning ancient ancestral practices that help with nutrition, balancing of the body and alignment with our universe.
