With support from the California Arts Council, Black Association of Documentary Filmmakers West will engage Public Relations consultant Marie Lemelle to develop long-term comprehensive promotional strategies to increase membership and audience; build new audiences and enhance the organization’s profile within the community. Consultant will assist in building media coverage; establish a social media presence; provide us with quality written materials that state our mission to a wider audience.
BADWest holds monthly pre to post workshops conducted by industry professional, providing information on resources for production, funding sources, festivals, and distribution; as well as screening works-in-progress and completed documentary films for feedback and discussion. Presents a free community screening each month of documentary films for and about Black people. Our members are diverse in experience, and range from recent film-school grads to experienced documentary filmmakers with award-winning features produced for major broadcast outlets.
