The Colusa County Arts Council, through the Public Art Projects program, is seeking artists to design
and install public art on municipal and privately-owned spaces throughout Colusa County as part
of our “Small Spaces, Big Impact” project. The intent of this project is to activate public spaces
throughout Colusa County with mural artwork on small walls or surfaces.
This project has $12,000 in available funds for up to five artists to complete projects on publicly accessible walls/spaces no
bigger than 10’ x 15’ or 150 square feet.
The themes and subject matter of selected artwork for “Small Spaces, Big Impact,” as determined by the Public Arts Advisory Committee, are:
The selected artwork(s) must have qualities considered to be pleasant, uplifting, and inspirational. Selected artwork must be the original creation of the artist. The Public Arts Advisory Committee will determine the eligible installation locations.
All artwork materials must have a minimum lifespan as specified in their proposal, and artists must provide a maintenance plan for the work. An agreement with the artist with a specified term (from 5 to 20 years) and maintenance requirements is required. After the term of the agreement expires, the artwork may be removed, covered over, updated to extend its lifespan, or modified to meet future community objectives.
The application and project overview is available at https://www.colusa-arts.org/news/paac-call-for-artists-2024.
Proposals are due by September 30, 2024.
