Corporate and foundation fundraising (institutional giving) is unique and rewarding profession perfectly suited for those with sharp writing skills, a knack for organization, an innate ability to connect with others, and contagious enthusiasm for mission-driven work.

This eight-week, paid internship will give you the opportunity to support a high-achieving institutional giving team. In this role, you will help coordinate corporate sponsors fulfillment events, learn best practices in database management and donor prospect research, and craft compelling language describing the impact of Segerstrom Center’s transformative Education and Community Engagement programs. Acquire hands-on experience and leverage your skillset to direct corporate and foundation funds towards a nonprofit organization striving to make the arts accessible to all in our community.

Segerstrom Center’s Summer Internship Program is designed to provide opportunities to individuals from diverse backgrounds and/or those who are members of a group that is underrepresented in our industry. While these internships are inclusive of all people, we strongly encourage candidates from diverse or underrepresented groups to apply. This is an in-person internship position.

Duties and Responsibilities

·         Work closely with the Institutional Giving team to plan and execute four sponsorship fulfillment events.

·         Support the Institutional Giving team in the creation of impact reports for corporate and foundation donors.

·         Conduct research on prospective corporate and foundation donors.

·         Ensure proper recognition of all foundation and corporate donors in program and on associated programs/shows.

·         Update the Center’s database (Tessitura) with relevant notes for all corporate and foundation donors and prospects. Ensure the accuracy of all institutional records.

·         Personalize institutional acknowledgements and coordinate additional senior leader thank-you notes when appropriate.

·         Prepare gift entry forms for corporate and foundation donations and maintain corporate and foundation files.

·         Provide general administrative and writing support to Director, Institutional Giving and Senior Manager, Institutional Giving.

Qualifications

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills.

·         Exemplary writing skills and ability to clearly articulate programmatic impact.

·         Exceptional organizational skills.

·         Ability to successfully juggle multiple projects simultaneously.

·         Ability to regularly problem-solve and negotiate with tact and diplomacy.

·         Ability to positively interface with foundation and corporate partners.

·         Passion for and knowledge of the power of the performing arts to positively influence individuals and communities.

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Suite (particularly AcrobatPro and InDesign).

·         Week 5: July 15-18, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM

·         Week 6: July 22-23, 9:00 AM – 5:00PM, July 24-25, 12:00 PM – 8:30 PM

·         Week 7: July 29-August 1, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM

·         Week 8: August 6-7, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM, August 8 12:00 PM – 8:30 PM, August 9, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
