POSITION SUMMARY

The Institutional Giving Associate is a member of the grants team, working to support fundraising from foundations, government agencies, and corporations. This role will be responsible for managing reporting for grants as well as writing grant proposals, communicating with Foundation and Corporate grant officers, and directly soliciting gifts less than $25,000. The individual in this role will be a strong writer with good attention to detail, and will be excited to work cross-departmentally to garner the necessary information for grant reports and proposals. General prospect research and Development Department support may also be required.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Institutional Giving

●      Provide support for identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of grants from foundations, government agencies, and corporate entities.

●      Write and directly solicit grants of $25,000 and less.

●      Manage a portfolio of 15-20 Foundation and Corporate Donors

●      Write reports for institutional donors.

●      Support the Associate Director, Institutional Giving and the Corporate Partnerships Manager in gathering information from Museum staff across the institution for grant requests and reports.

●      Work with other colleagues to ensure that foundation and government donors are apprised of Museum activities and invited to cultivation and stewardship opportunities.

●      Maintain updated records for institutional donors in Raiser’s Edge database.

●      Support the relationship with the Oakland Museum Women’s Board, OMCA’s single largest donor.

●      Manage corporate memberships and steward corporate member relationships

Development Department

●      Manage cross-functional donor acknowledgement credit lines process

●      Provide support at donor events.

EXPERIENCE

●      Ability to display and encourage donor and internal customer service, take and share responsibility and treat others with respect

●      1-3 years in related field

●      Strong writing and editing skills required

●      English language proficiency in both spoken and written form
