Through arts in education, quality programming, affordable rental facilities, and low-cost and free performances, the Center is able to enrich the lives of the community it serves. With a mission of bringing people together to discover, create and celebrate both the visual and performing arts, the California Center for the Arts, Escondido is the cultural center of North San Diego County. 

About the Role: 

The California Center for the Arts, Escondido (CCAE) is seeking a talented and multi-faceted Senior Graphic Designer to be part of a dynamic marketing team. This role is responsible for producing all graphic design projects for CCAE and requires a unique combination of creativity and strategic savvy.

Position Status: Full-time (40 hours per week) 

Location: Hybrid: (80/20 remote/in-office)

Salary: annual salary based on experience and qualifications

Duties and Responsibilities:
Key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Conceptualizing and producing a high volume of visually appealing graphic design campaigns for Center stakeholders, including Performing Arts, Museum and Conference Center
Creating and following brand guides
Scope and create templates for website, digital ads, social media, email and other channels
Content creation (videos, pictures, print ads, posters, banners, flyers, etc.)
Interdepartmental collaboration from conception to completion of each project 
Coordinating collateral material preparation and printing with outside agencies
Organize, itemize, and leverage all photography and design assets for use across the company network
Other duties as may be deemed necessary by the direct supervisor. 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

A strong portfolio
Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
Familiarity with Asana and Later
Strong attention to detail with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet time-sensitive deadlines
Strong production knowledge of print and digital platforms 
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience leading design critiques with actionable feedback
Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team while managing multiple projects
High degree of creativity and a very strong work ethic
Positive attitude and ability to work with a variety of different personalities
Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and customer service skills 
Strong communication and collaborative skills
 

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, or related field is preferred
4-6 years of graphic design experience
Previous experience as Senior Graphic Designer or Graphic Designer

Noise levels vary, but can be moderate to high during programming and events.  While performing this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time with respect to both indoor and outdoor events. Temperature levels may include hot, cold, and mild. The noise level in the work environment may be low, moderate, and at times may be high.
