Theater Operations Internship – Spring 2022

Description

Theater Operations encompasses all aspects of facilities and operations including production, event operations, engineering, security, and administration. An internship in theater operations will de-mystify the “behind-the-scenes” aspect of what it takes to operate a performing arts facility. Interns will have the opportunity to engage with the Center’s staff in areas including show preparation, backstage operations, event installation, special events and rental procedures, building security, and facilities maintenance.  Due to the variety of shows and events at the Center, interns should be available on nights and weekends.

 

This is a for credit, unpaid internship and you must be enrolled and receiving credit for the internship in order to be eligible.

About Our Internships
Segerstrom Center for the Arts’ internship program offers exciting opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to gain professional experience working side-by-side with administrators, extraordinary artist, and technicians.
Interns undertake a variety of projects which provide an enriching professional career experience. Assignments depend upon the qualifications and interests of the intern as well as the specific needs of each department. Segerstrom Center directors and managers provide focused professional supervision to each intern assigned to their departments. Additionally, interns will be able to attend professional development sessions as well as performances, workshops and classes presented at the Center, free of charge (if space is available) throughout their internship.

Internship Requirements
The Center’s internship program runs a total of 12 weeks and interns are required to work a minimum of 120 hours.
Internships are academic and unpaid. Students applying for the Center’s intern program are REQUIRED to be registered for credit from their college institution. Students are expected to obtain and complete the necessary forms to receive credit for their internship. Students are also responsible for meeting any registration requirements from their college or university.
Interns are required to attend weekly professional development sessions that are led by executives of Segerstrom Center for the Arts. These sessions will take place on Fridays from 2:00pm-3:00pm.
Interns must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by the start date of the internship. Segerstrom Center for the Arts will provide reasonable accommodations to qualified interns with disabilities or for a sincerely held religious beliefs
