Paid Museum Studies Internship

2021 American Bookbinders Museum Internship – 3-month commitment, September – November (one training day in August), PAID

Great opportunity for a marketing, nonprofit management, or museum studies undergraduate or graduate student to gain valuable PAID professional experience! Will work with the selected candidate to provide academic credit if needed.

Requirements:

  • Onsite 4 days per week: Wed-Saturday 6-8 hours per day
  • Basic computer skills – will be trained on ABM systems
  • Basic museum practices
  • Good writing skills
  • Good presence, able to interact with the public in a professional and friendly manner
  • Works well with others, able to collaborate and take direction

Responsibilities:

  • Social Media content and weekly posts: Instagram, Facebook & Twitter 
  • Marketing emails under supervision of ED & staff
  • Front-of-house 50% of each day: greet and check-In visitors, answer questions, manage register, assist in shop
  • Participate in preparation of special exhibitions or other museum installations
  • Conduct research and write interpretive text
  • Cataloging and data entry in our Collection Management System
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands:  Light lifting; frequent use of stairs, may require using ladders and light equipment.

Special Environmental Factors:  Open office setting
