The City of South Gate’s Cultural Arts Division is now accepting applications for a Recreation Leader II and a Recreation Leader IV.  Rec Leaders support a range of programs by providing assistance to the Cultural Arts Coordinator.

Examples of duties (included but not limited to):

• Coordination of art classes;
• Assistance with installation and de-installation of exhibits;
• Tracking, safe handling, packing and transport of objects in the Museum’s collection;
• Research and organization of Museum’s collection;
• Assistance with social media strategy and creation of social media posts;
• Assistance with community engagement initiatives;
• Assistance with record keeping of programs and events (including survey data);
• Provides customer service via, phone, email and written correspondence;
• Researches special projects;
• Other duties as assigned.

We are looking for detail-oriented team players who are able to juggle various tasks. Applicants should be highly organized, computer literate, eager to learn and have excellent communication skills. Familiarity with the Southeast Los Angeles community preferred.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent plus successful completion of college-level coursework in in an arts-related field and one-year experience in visual and performing arts administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job (volunteer and internship experience okay!). Bilingual fluency (English/Spanish) and knowledge of graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite) preferred.

Rate of Compensation:

$15.40-18.72/hr (Rec II)

$18.63-$22.65/hr (Rec IV)
