Artist in Residency Opportunities in Sacramento

Description

The Ali Youssefi Project Artist in Residence (AIR) aims to nurture artists from a diverse range of backgrounds and uplift the work of artists, with a particular focus on underrepresented perspectives and voices. We welcome all visual artists working with a wide range of mediums. The purpose of the AYP AIR program is to grant artists the gift of space so that they may develop and evolve their work during their time in Sacramento.

Deadline February 16, 2021

We are accepting two Verge Residents and two WAL Residents:

One WAL Resident and one Verge artist per 3-month cycle:

May – July 2021

August – October 2021

Verge Residency is open to Sacramento artists within a 35-mile radius of Sacramento.

Artists receive:

-studio work space at Verge Center for the Arts

-$500 monthly stipend

-participation in group show at Verge gallery

-invited to participate in Verge programming

WAL Residency is open to visual artists 35 miles outside of Sacramento.

Artists receive:

-furnished studio apartment at Warehouse Artist Lofts

-studio work space at Verge Center for the Arts

-$500 monthly stipend

-participation in group show at Verge Gallery

-invited to participate in Verge programming

 

Shared Resources:

-Free admission to all Verge member programs

-Access to a full service printmaking facility, kiln, and Risograph printer

-WiFi

-A 300 square foot studio at Verge with 24hr access

-Community of up to 50 artists on site at WAL

-Community of up to 55 artists working on site at Verge

-North American Reciprocal Museum (NARM) Benefits

-Free attendance to Verge special events which coincide with the residency term

–WAL is a mixed-use, transit-oriented community for Sacramento artists.

Note About Covid: WAL and Verge are taking precautions to keep their communities safe during the pandemic. An artist can shelter-in-place in both their studio apartment and Verge work studio. Verge studios are private and are accessible to artists 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Verge has implemented social distancing measures and disinfects shared facilities on a regular basis to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
