Along the Colorado
On August 16, 2021, the US Bureau of Reclamation announced the first official shortage declaration for the Colorado River. For the seven US states along its course, this means new restrictions and a changed relationship not only to the river, but also to each other. The exhibition Along the Colorado is seeking artists whose work explores issues around the Colorado river –its scarcity, use, commodification, conservation, legality, and politics–by creatives who reside in these states.
Scheduled for August 2022 at the Nevada Humanities Program Gallery in Las Vegas, NV, the exhibition will mark the one-year anniversary of the shortage declaration.
Deadline, March 31, 2022. All media are welcome, artists from California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico may apply. Space is limited at the Nevada Humanities gallery, smaller works are encouraged. Artists may be responsible for shipping.

Art and Ecology Residency – Spring/Summer 2022 Season
The Ponder Residency program at The Verdancy Project is now accepting applications.
Deadline Feb 1st, 2022. Great for visual and performing artists, writers, musicians, researchers, and more.
We are eager to welcome individuals engaged in a wide range of ecological-based initiatives. Whether you’re a creative in search of retreat and studio space in a rich natural landscape or a researcher interested in learning from our local habitat, our residencies are designed to offer time, space, solitude, and peace free of distractions.
The Verdancy Project is a 4.5-acre property located in Troutdale, OR just 25 min East of Portland.
Scholarship and work-trade options are available. We are in a rural, natural area with uneven terrain. The residency grounds do have some paths but most of the property is not accessible for wheelchairs, crutches, and other mobility aids. We are happy to try and work with artists who have accessibility or other needs and do our best to accommodate. Please reach out and let us know what you need.
