JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT CALL FOR ARTISTS

John Wayne Airport invites local artists to apply for solo-style exhibition slots in the Community Focus Space (CFS) program with monthly exhibit openings, beginning Mid-March 2023. View the press release.

The completed application packet with images submittal deadline is 4 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2022. Email applications to JWAArts@ocair.com.

RFQ- Storm Channel Walkway Mural

Deadline: August 15, 2022

Honorarium: Short listed artists/teams will receive a stipend of $1,000 to develop a final proposal. The selected artist or team will receive a maximum commission of up to and not to exceed $100,000.

Eligibility: Open to artists or artist teams with demonstrated experience in the design, creation, and installation of site-responsive public art.

Information: The City is accepting qualifications for consideration to develop a proposal for a walkway mural spanning the pedestrian bridge near the entrance to the Sawdust Art Festival.

Eligibility: Artists ages 18+ who are residents of Orange County, CA (proof required).

Information: APPLY ONLINE at https://lagunabeachcity.slideroom.com.  Entry fee of $25 includes up to three submissions. Submissions may not exceed 36” x 36” (including frame) or a depth of 4”. Selected works will be displayed at Laguna Beach City Hall September 26 – November 18, 2022. Work must be original and executed within the past two (2) years. Work must not have been previously exhibited at Laguna Beach City Hall.

Chief Curator

UCI Jack and Shanaz Langson Institute and Museum of California Art (Langson IMCA) seeks to hire its first Chief Curator, someone with an entrepreneurial mindset who is motivated by this ground-floor opportunity to join the leadership team in building a new art museum and research institute that brings attention to the Golden State’s creative output. In conjunction with the Museum Director, the Chief Curator has creative and managerial responsibility for the curatorial vision of the museum and the development, management, and stewardship of its exhibitions and collections. The Chief Curator makes critical, strategic decisions regarding the museum’s artistic directions and guides curatorial and collection development initiatives in accordance with art museum best practices. The Chief Curator is responsible for determining curatorial priorities; conceiving, developing, directing, and overseeing the implementation of temporary, permanent, and traveling exhibitions, both in-house and guest curated. The Chief Curator is also charged with strategically developing Langson IMCA’s permanent collection.

This position also plays a collaborative role in developing public engagement activities, such as tours, lectures, conversations, panels, and exhibition-related programs; as well as Institute programs, such as scholarly publications, symposia, conferences, artist residencies, research fellowships, and interdisciplinary academic initiatives. The Chief Curator serves on various committees, including as an ex officio member of the museum’s Director’s Council. The Chief Curator also works in close collaboration with the Deputy Director on the administrative, financial, and external affairs aspects of exhibitions, programs, collections, and publications. This position directs and manages the curatorial and exhibition administration departments and co-leads collections staff.

Compass Diversified – Costa Mesa Workspace

Compass Diversified recognizes that place and space design within the office environment plays an important role when thinking about the health and wellbeing of employees. Creating a place where employees are proud to come into work underpins the way we do business. At the end of 2021, Compass moved into a newly designed office space in Costa Mesa. We are now looking to partner with local community artists to design pieces of art that will hang/stand in our office space.

Compass Diversified is offering up to a budget of $55,000 for two works created by an artist that lives and works in Orange County; to include artists fee, materials, delivery, installation, and all other costs associated with the project. Arts Orange County is proud to be managing and facilitating the submission and review process on their behalf.

City of Placentia/CalTrans Public Art RFQ

The City of Placentia is pleased to announce a Request for Qualifications/RFQ to commission a Southern California artist or artist team to design and install two permanent public artworks:

1) Mural artwork for both sides of the W. Crowther Ave. underpass
2) A large-scale sculpture for the land contained by the Orangethorpe Ave. onramp/offramp
