A week-long, in-person residency that coincides with Kolaj Fest New Orleans (12-16 June 2024), during which artists will explore the city, learn about the history and materials of street art, and make artwork for public display that Kolaj Fest attendees and New Orleanians will be able to view. Documenting the entire process will be integral to the project, as the resulting work will be published in a Kolaj Street Krewe zine to be announced at a later date. Call for Art: Two-Dimensional Temporary Public Art Installations on East Avenue
Rochester Contemporary Art Center (RoCo) invites artists to propose three images for a temporary public art installation at our main facility. Through this call for art we aim to offer a simple submission process for incisive, surprising, and unique imagery that will enliven the East Avenue neighborhood. Of particular interest are projects that connect visitors to the location, community and/or history of the neighborhood, challenge visitors and passersby, and address important social and political issues. RoCo welcomes visual artists of all genres who are located in the United States. RoCo also invites visual artists to collaborate with literary artists as we have previously shown in this location.
The completed series of three images (10’ h x 7’ w) will be exhibited to the public 24/7 for 4-6 months. The duration will be determined with RoCo staff based on the seasons and circumstances. Artist will receive a $400 stipend for the use of their preexisting images. All production and installation costs are covered by RoCo.

Call for Art – Queering Democracy: Art, Identity, and Politics in 2024
Rochester Contemporary Art Center (RoCo) and ImageOut Art seek artist submissions for a juried exhibition opening in Rochester, NY in 2024. Queer art has achieved greater prominence in recent years, yet the LGBTQIA+ community’s struggle for freedom and equality persists. We hope this exhibition will serve as a reflection of our current moment, and as a poignant response to the alarming rise of anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation sweeping the nation.
Artist submissions are due on June 15, 2024 by 5pm. We welcome 2D, 3D, and electronic media that showcases experiences, emotions, and thoughts on the evolving struggle for LGBTQIA+ rights and representation. Artists located in the United States of all backgrounds, identities, and those exploring all narratives of genderqueerness are invited to apply. This exhibition will be juried by a diverse panel of arts professionals who identify as LGBTQIA+.

Call to Artists: Kolaj Institute Solo Residencies – New Orleans
Dates: One or Two-Week Residencies with dates mutually agreed with Kolaj Institute
NEXT DEADLINE: Wednesday, 31 January 2023
(Submissions are reviewed on an ongoing basis)
Kolaj Institute’s solo residencies in New Orleans are designed to provide artists, curators, and writers with dedicated time and space to work on a project. Residencies may be 1 or 2 weeks. Kolaj Institute provides housing and studio space. Once accepted, Kolaj Institute meets with the resident for a pre-residency assessment where we identify community partners and other resources that can support the project. We then work with the resident to design a plan for their time in New Orleans.
We are open to your ideas. We are looking for artists with an articulated goal for their time in New Orleans. That goal need not to be explicitly related to New Orleans, though priority will be given to those artists whose projects need time in New Orleans.
