CALL TO ARTISTS Big Orange Monster: An Emergency Collage Exhibition
CALL TO ARTISTS
Big Orange Monster: An Emergency Collage Exhibition
at Kolaj Institute Gallery in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA
10 September-25 October 2025
Deadline to receive work: Thursday, 4 September 2025
You mix fear (yellow) and anger (red) and you get a Big Orange Monster. What’s the emergency? There are a lot of Big Orange Monsters on the loose. Monsters only have power if you are afraid of them. So let’s create a space where we can slay our fear of Big Orange Monsters. Art helps us exorcise our demons. Monsters can be glorious and wonderful or horrible and evil. Let’s not cast aside the good Big Orange Monsters because some other Big Orange Monsters are well…unpleasant.
“The world is run by monsters and you have to deal with them. Some of them run countries, some of them run banks, some of them run news corporations.” –Ken Livingstone (source)

Open Call – V I D E O S O U N D A R C H I V E – S14
V I D E O S O U N D A R C H I V E Season 14 –Calling for video and sound works that reconsiders the current restructures and parameters. Rather than a festival or exhibition, we are carving out a space to encourage a literal pause in life and ‘mindful use of this easily accessible medium’ by underscoring critical thought and creation. Leaning away from social media and insta- “content creation” (vanity metrics) we hope to allow a straightforward space without the unnecessary pressure of views/likes. Ideated on January 13, 2020, we are both artists working in this medium. Our hope is to build a network to foster connections, and create a place for your work to exist in a broader conversation — a pure art exchange to experiment and express without buzz words, vanity metrics and artspeak.
- Please submit works with a maximum running time of ten (10) minutes.
- Please submit works that include both your original video and sound in the same piece. If you are not the sole creator of the video and/or sound, please include all collaborators, and/or list public domain/open source.
- Please read over our FAQ before submitting.
*To be considered for S14, please submit by August 31, 2025 11:59pm PT

We appreciate your time and look forward to getting to know your work.
