Art Room Gallery is proud to announce their 2nd “Artist’s Choice” Online Art Competition for the month of August 2021. This is the open subject competition. Artists from around the world are welcome to submit their work. All visual art mediums are acceptable (painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, digital, prints, fiber art, collage or installation art) except sound and video art. All winning artists will receive a digital award certificate. First, second and third place will be largely displayed with an article about the artist and their work. First place will be on the poster of the show. $15 for 2 images, $28 for 4 images and $40 for up to 6 images. Deadline: August 5, 2021.

Magic is all that is capable of transforming the aspects and dimensions of the real world in fantastic ways, within a suggestive and ecstatic atmosphere. Art, art’s practice and its product are the first testimony of form and expression of this realization.
Since the Paleolithic age, symbols acquire magical and propitiatory purposes, thus establishing a contact with divinities: primitive men entered deep caves, leaving traces of themselves through a creative act, getting lost in another dimension and then returning to the real world. Perhaps a reference to the cycle of life, death, union, rebirth.
It is an innate human instinct to re-create and live out fantastic dimensions, where everything is connected with everything and where everything is possible.

Dance Applications through 7/15 for San Pedro Festival of the Arts Sept 12 & 19, 2021
The San Pedro ♥ Festival of the Arts is a free family event each September, in the past featuring Dance, Music & Visual Arts/Crafts Booths. This year, our 15th, we approach it in a new way due to the dimensions of the recent Pandemic. The festival was again awarded a Department of Cultural Affairs, City of Los Angeles Festival Grant + a grant to reintroduce the festival to the community.
We are interested in all dance forms performed by professional companies including traditional ballet and modern as well as ethnic dance forms, tap, fusion, jazz, and hip-hop. Each day also includes 2-3 pre-professional companies or schools. Any not fully vaccinated will be asked for tests 2 weeks or less before performances if that still the standard in LA County. At Alvas, there is some lighting and projection available, but outside it is daytime and no projections possible.
By popular request, we are creating a hybrid festival this year and including a dance video division. (Last years’ festival was all virtual). Please honor the length requirement.
Honorarium for all professional companies selected.

Professional companies- length- 10 to 20 minutes Pre-professional/ community- under 10 minutes.
1- email louisehr@LAChoreographersAndDancers.org what you would like to perform with theme and music with a video link in performance or rehearsal or video outline (if not yet performed), including a digital press packet, and contact info. Let us know if music rights were cleared on your video if submitting in the video division and submitting that actual video/film.
2- include an application fee of $35 Final Deadline July 15, 2021.
