Karma is seeking a passionate and committed individual who is looking to gain invaluable experience in contemporary art for a 6-month internship at our Los Angeles location. Starting March through August, 2 to 3 days per week, our intern will assist with an archive based project while also contributing to a variety of tasks throughout the gallery.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in organizing and archiving the works belonging to an artists estate
Assist the Sales team with research and artist-related projects
Prepare and maintain printed materials for internal research documents and artists’ archive
Support Sales team with updates to artists’ CVs and bios, track exhibitions and events
Participate and support our gallery events, artist talks and openings
Support our Sale Assistants and Gallery Associates with occasional coverage
Assist the Registration and Operations department with cataloging and assessing inventory utilizing the gallery database
Support the Registration department with condition image filing
Welcome and engage visitors with friendly and knowledgeable assistance
Contribute to special projects that arise throughout your internship
Qualifications:
- Passion for contemporary art and eagerness to gain experience in a gallery setting
Proficiency in Google Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud and scanning software
Strong organizational, communication and problem solving
Public-facing skills and collaborative spirit
Flexibility for occasional evening and weekend events
Experience carefully handling works of art is a plus
Familiarity with our gallery roster and contemporary art is helpful
Willingness to perform light manual tasks
Internship details:
Dates: March 2024 – August 2024
2-3 full days per week with flexibility for occasional events and openings
This position is part-time and reports to our Sales Director with a compensation of $16.78 hourly
