Graphic Designer III – Telework Option

This position is Hybrid and eligible for telework in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Under the general direction of the Information Officer (IO) II at the California Arts Council (CAC) Public Affairs Unit (PAU), the Graphic Designer (GD) Ill creates and produces materials and/or publications at the highest level for print, on-line publishing, multimedia, and other mediums. The GD Ill serves as a high-level specialist responsible for the development and production of the most complex graphic design work for the CAC. The GD Ill will be responsible for providing mission-critical skilled graphic design support, client liaison, and project leadership in order to maintain the professional communications and branding standards of the agency; support the implementation of an effective public affairs program; support the implementation of legislatively mandated programs; ensure that the CAC’s revenue generating programs succeed; and effectively support the development and execution of special initiatives and agency partnerships.

The Director of Public Affairs develops, organizes, directs, and evaluates comprehensive strategies to inform the public of the activities and objectives of a State agency; consults with and advises top management of the agency on public relations implications of the agency’s activities; and performs other related work. Program Coordinator for the Center for Creative Workforce Equity

Venice Arts seeks a part-time Program Coordinator to join our Center for Creative Workforce Equity’s (CCWE) team. This position plays a pivotal part in our mission to provide free, high-caliber education, internships, jobs, and related creative pathway programs to talented low-income young people, ages 18-24. Working under the Center’s Director, the Coordinator is responsible for a wide range of cyclical tasks with the following roles and responsibilities:

Program Admin Support

● Maintain updated enrollment forms and program info, ensuring that both are accurate and accessible for participants and employers

● Maintain the annual program and event calendar, including production calendars that help ensure the smooth operations of programs and initiatives

● Maintain internal databases (student, employer, partner), using AirTable and Excel; external databases (CalJobs) as required; pull reports as requested; and provide data in a timely manner for entry into the organization-wide database

● Assist with preparations for the Digital Storytelling Fellowship and Editing Pre-apprenticeship programs, ensuring that all logistics are coordinated smoothly (student packets, teaching materials, classroom set-up, equipment, etc.)

● Proctor Adobe Premiere Pro Certification exams

● Handle all communications with program participants and alumni, addressing their questions, concerns, and placement needs

Outreach

● Coordinate all outreach activities for each program or event to ensure robust participation, including to alumni, community partners, and others as directed

Internships, Apprenticeships, Jobs

● Once employer partners are established by the Director, coordinate formal onboarding, including ensuring that partners understand the mechanisms of placement through Venice Arts’ workforce partners (LA County, South Bay Workforce Investment Board, GEI/Group Effort Initiative), and that worksite and all other paperwork is completed and received

● Onboard interns placed with workforce partners; check in with partners/students to assure all is going smoothly; facilitate youth and employer evaluations

● Maintain regular communications with students/alumni about internships, apprenticeships and jobs, assuring résumés are received by sector partners

Creative Conversations

● Coordinate the logistics of the annual Creative Conversations series, which puts industry creatives and other professionals in front of students to discuss their insights and perspectives. This includes securing presenter bios, creating registration forms, managing reminders, assuring back-end tech, and timely coordination with Venice Arts’ comms team. 

Qualifications

You have a background in filmmaking; prior experience in community-based arts education a strong plus. You are exceptionally well-organized, detail-oriented, enjoy logistics, and are a self sufficient troubleshooter. Proficiency with Apple computers and software—especially Adobe Suite—and familiarity with a range of camera, sound, and peripheral equipment, required. You are personable, have excellent communication skills, and are comfortable working with a wide range of individuals, partners, and community organizations.

You are experienced with a variety of business software used for data entry, spreadsheets, and file management; familiarity with Google Drive and G Suite required, and experience with Filemaker Pro and/or AirTable a plus. Candidates must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.

This is a 100% on-site, in-person position that requires COVID-19 vaccination. The position may offer an opportunity for full-time work in the New Year.

Compensation

This is a part-time, non-exempt (hourly) position that starts at $23/hour. Benefits include vacation time-off, compensated sick time, an opportunity to contribute to a 401(k), and more. The work schedule is generally Monday-Friday, although the schedule may be adjusted to accommodate program schedules.

Engagement and Impact Coordinator

We partner with filmmakers who bring untold stories to public media to make a difference in the world. For over 25 years, we’ve been committed to diversity on both sides of the camera, helping filmmakers tell and share vital stories that are reflective of our society.

Summary
The person in this role will report to the Senior Manager, Engagement & Impact. Responsibilities include: supporting the Engagement and Impact team in managing ITVS’ engagement program, which uses Independent Lens documentary films to spark civic participation and dialogue through strategic partnerships and documentary film screenings held in communities nationwide. This is a 9-month work assignment with the possibility of transferring into full-time regular employment with ITVS.

Specific Duties

Research and Data Organization

  • Conduct and support research of partnership opportunities with community organizations based on engagement strategy.
  • Schedule partner meetings, prepare meeting materials, provide follow-up communications.
  • Maintain timely and accurate contact information in database (Oracle NetSuite).
  • Maintain timely and accurate project management workflows (Asana).
  • Assist in developing data collection tools to help understand the reach and impact of engagement activities.
  • Monitor data collection via ITVS’ evaluation tools (i.e. DocSCALE) and provide technical assistance to partners on data collection as needed.

Asset Coordination 

  • Coordinate production workflow of materials and assets created for websites by ITVS Creative Services team in support of engagement program; assets may include film discussion guides, outreach instructions, film clips, and other written and visual materials.
  • Support website asset workflows through uploading videos and documents, creating links, identifying metadata.
  • Assist in conducting individual partner, cross-partner, or initiative-level analysis and in developing and disseminating reports or blogs.
  • Provide quality-control workflow, per ITVS style guide and best business practices.

In-Real-Life and Virtual Events

  • Provide technical assistance to partners and troubleshoot issues on third-party virtual platforms
  • Support panelist and participant preparation, logistics of ITVS’s virtual platform and event logistics
  • Collaborate with ITVS’s Business and Legal Affairs team in facilitating event participant contracts and honoraria for film viewing events and key stakeholder convenings

Partnership Outreach

  • Initiate and support pre-and-post-event follow-up outreach to event audiences and participants, and key stakeholder organizations, which may include public media stations, filmmakers, speakers, community leaders, and film participants
  • Coordinate data collection with external engagement partners (particularly filmmakers and public media stations), including communicating goals, training partners on use of evaluation tools, and disseminating reports.

  • Preferred: Experience, interest and/or knowledge in independent films, documentaries, community engagement, broadcast television, and/or event planning.
  • Preferred: experience or exposure to program management.

 

Compensation

ITVS is a financial steward of public funds and committed to pay transparency, as well as providing equitable and competitive compensation for staff. For this role the pay is $26.00/hour and all incumbent new hires base pay will begin at $26.00/hour. This is a non-exempt 9-month temporary position with the possibility of transferring into full-time regular employment with ITVS.

• Experience overseeing a budget of $500,000 or more.
• Prior experience as an Executive Director is preferred but not required.
• Successful track record of managing funding relationships with foundations, donors, or other funding entities.
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate needs of the organization and staff.
• Familiarity with the nonprofit sector, including fundraising, grant writing, and donor relations.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This is a fractional position with the salary range of $85,000 – $100,000. Once onboarded it is anticipated that the hourly commitment per week will be somewhere between 30-36 hours Monday through Friday, understanding that the number of hours/days may periodically increase due to various circumstances/responsibilities such as overseeing workshops, representing the organization, speaking engagements, community events, etc. The position is an in-person role located in Irvine, CA. Call for ARTISTS: 2025/2026 El Paseo Sculpture Exhibition

ABOUT THE EL PASEO SCULPTURE EXHIBITION:

El Paseo is the premier shopping district in Palm Desert and the Coachella Valley, located in southern California. The exhibition space consists of eighteen lighted concrete pads located in the median of a prime retail corridor. The artwork will remain on exhibition for approximately two (2) years, with installation tentatively planned for October – November 2024 and de-installation planned for October 2026.

 

DEADLINE:

HONORARIUM:

A $5,000 honorarium will be provided for each selected artwork. Participant is responsible for delivery and pick-up of artwork per scheduled date. Payment schedule is as follows: $4,000 on delivery and $1,000 at pick-up.
