Call for Art: All mediums welcome: – “Art with a Story”
The City of Santa Clarita is seeking artwork for consideration for an upcoming exhibit at First Floor Gallery. Santa Clarita Arts is seeking artwork with a story behind it for this art exhibition! The goal of this exhibition is for the viewers to get a more profound sense of the piece, while showcasing an artist’s ability to tell a story through art. The application asks for a small summary that details your story to go alongside the accepted art piece – this is optional. The summary should highlight why the artist chose a specific moment to depict. Examples could be a painting of your favorite hiking spot, a moment from a family vacation, a memory with a parent or child, and much more! No story is too small or too big. Applicants may submit artwork in the medium of their choosing as long as it can be mounted to a wall. This includes but is not limited to paintings, drawings, printmaking, photography, and textiles. The City of Santa Clarita utilizes a special wiring system that requires all artworks to be WIRED in order to hang safely.
Mailed artwork will NOT be accepted. Artwork must be physically dropped off on the agreed upon date. This call is open to LA County, surrounding areas, and those willing to drop off.
Artwork exceeding 25 pounds in weight will not be accepted.
This project is open to all artists, regardless of race, color, religion, natural origin, gender, age, military status, sexual orientation, marital status, or physical or mental disabilities. Artist teams are eligible to apply, including teams of artists from multiple disciplines.
