Sacramento Art Cookbook
This year Sacramento Fine Arts Center (Sac Arts) celebrates food and art in two ways. We have a food-themed juried art show this November. Information for that show is coming SOON. We’ve also received a grant to do something unique and creative; an art cookbook. This community art cookbook will be self-published by Sac Arts with assistance from the Sacramento County TOT Grant program. This cookbook will be made up of recipes from multiple individuals and feature artwork from local artists. Sac Arts is looking forward to working with the community to create a publication that celebrates Sacramento’s rich culinary and visual arts sectors.
General Information: Submissions to this cookbook will be open to all residents of the Greater Sacramento Region.
Artists may submit their own art and recipe or partner with one another during the submission process. Only high resolution photos and legible documents will be considered.
Deadline to Submit: July 22, 2023 Late submissions will not be considered.
Art Theme and Regulations: Artwork must fit the theme of “Food”. Subject matter can include food, dishes, meals, table settings, still lifes, kitchens, restaurants, farms, and more. Selection of artwork will be at the discretion of Sacramento Fine Arts Center. Some forms of photography may not be accepted. Contact Sac Arts at info@sacfinearts.org for clarification.
The artists entering must agree and acknowledge that the images entered are their own and they alone hold the copyright. Sac Arts assumes no liability for copyright infringement. Any violation of copyright laws are the responsibility of the submitting artist. Sac Arts may rescind acceptance or withdraw entries for this publication at any time if it violates the policies of Sac Arts. Final selection of the art for the cookbook will be at the discretion of Sac Arts.
Recipe Categories and Regulations: The recipe writer may select multiple categories their recipe would be best suited for. Some categories may include meals (appetizers, breakfast, lunch, dinner), season, raw ingredients (vegetables, fish, beef), and/or cooking techniques. Final categorization and selection of recipes will be at the discretion of Sac Arts.
Sac Arts would like to encourage individuals to submit unique and one of a kind recipes. Chocolate chip cookies are great, but 30 chocolate chip cookie recipes are not as great.
The chef, restaurant, or community member entering must agree and acknowledge that the recipe entered are their own and they alone hold the copyright. Sac Arts assumes no liability for copyright infringement. Any violation of copyright laws are the responsibility of the submitting artist. Sac Arts may rescind acceptance or withdraw entries for this publication at any time if it violates the policies of Sac Arts.
Art & Recipe Submission: Those that submit a recipe and artwork will receive priority during the submission process. However, selection of the entry is not guaranteed.
Artists may choose to partner with a friend, chef or restaurant to submit a recipe, but must work with the writer of the recipe to submit the information together.
Artwork Only Submission: Artists may submit an artwork without an accompanying recipe. Artists will need to use the “Artwork Only” submission form. Sac Arts staff will work to pair your submission with a recipe.
If you would like your art paired with a friend, chef or restaurant to submit a recipe, please use the “Art & Recipe” submission form and work together to submit the information. If you do not submit the information together, Sac Arts will not guarantee the submissions will be paired together in the final publication.
Recipe Only Submission: Chefs, restaurant representatives, and community members may submit a recipe without an accompanying artwork. These individuals will need to use the “Recipe Only” submission form. Sac Arts staff will work to pair your submission with art.
If you would like your recipe to be paired with a specific artist, please use the “Art & Recipe” submission form and work together to submit the information. If you do not submit the information together, Sac Arts will not guarantee the submissions will be paired together in the final publication.
Editing: Sac Arts, its agents, and its staff reserve the right to edit submitted art and recipes for the purposes of the book layout. The final editing and publication of the book will be at the sole discretion of the representatives of Sac Arts. The editing process will not alter the submitted art or recipe, but manage formatting and edit for clarity.
Publishing Rights: Those submitting art and/or recipes for this project give permission to Sac Arts and its agents and employees the irrevocable and unrestricted right to reproduce the submissions for the purpose of future publication, promotion, illustration, advertising, or trade, in any manner or any medium in relation to this project. Those submitting agree to release Sac Arts and its legal representatives for all claims and liability related to the submissions. Those submitting art and/or recipes waive their right to any compensation.
