Shoebox Lab: Take Your Art Practice to the Next Level

Curator, publisher, educator and artist Kristine Schomaker leads this intensive 6-week virtual workshop for artists.

Kristine and her team of arts professionals provide resources, feedback, Q & A, targeted suggestions and more. Topics include social media, exhibition proposals, newsletters, gallery representation, art fairs, creating opportunities, business plans, portfolio tips and strategies, websites, pricing and much more.

Exploring the frontiers of reality, fantasy, and perception, Your Wildest Dreams seeks to showcase the surreal, the bizarrely-imaginative, and the vibrant worlds in which the artist resides (or creates…)  Spatial, visionary, trippy, limitless, and free, take a ride down the rabbit hole into the depths of the subconscious- brought to life in this brand new Spring showcase from Vestige Concept Gallery!   

We accept works from emerging, mid-career, and/or professional artists.

14th Annual “Abstracts” Online Art Competition

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery announces an art call for the gallery’s 14th Annual “Abstracts” Online Juried Art Competition.  The gallery invites all 2D and 3D from around the world to make online submissions for possible inclusion in the Gallery’s April 2023 online group art exhibition.   

The gallery invites entries from artists (including photography & digital art) regardless of where they reside to apply to this competition by submitting their best non-objective and non-representational art.

The #1 overall top winning artist will be the Best in Show winner of the exhibition. The Best in Show winner will receive a cash prize. Winners receive extensive worldwide publicity and promotion.

7th Annual Black & White Art Competition

Fusion Art invites submissions for the 7th Annual Black & White art competition.

For this competition, both 2D and 3D artists, worldwide, are invited to submit their best art and photography using black & white & the nuanced shades in between. Any subject matter and any media are acceptable for consideration.

The artwork can range from realism to surrealism to abstraction and all artists, regardless of location or experience, are encouraged to submit their best representational and/or abstract art and photography.

On-Call Preparator, Museum Department

 

The Skirball Cultural Center seeks qualified candidates for the position of On-Call Preparator. The On-Call Preparator performs a wide range of skilled and semi-skilled duties in the preparation, installation, deinstallation, and care of objects and works of art at the museum level. This is an on-call position with a variable schedule.

 Salary range: $25-$27/hour

 

Responsibilities

 

·         Use best-practice methods for handling, moving, packing, and installing artwork and objects

·         Safe handling and installation/deinstallation of art, artifacts, ephemera, and related materials for exhibitions

·         Installation of graphics, signage, labels, and lighting

·         Receive and uncrate shipments of art and related exhibition materials

·         Assist in the preparation and fabrication of temporary exhibition components such as display cases, mounts, frames, pedestals, and temporary walls as needed

 

Qualifications

 

·         Strong working knowledge and skills in the preparation, installation/deinstallation, and care/handling of valuable objects in a museum or gallery

·         Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with people of diverse cultures, ages, and economic backgrounds

·         Ability to work well in both a team environment and independently

·         Ability to multi-task and complete projects in a timely manner

·         Knowledge of fabrication and production techniques

·         Experience working with wood and machine shop tools preferred

·         Knowledge of audio-visual equipment a plus

·         Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
