The theme of our online exhibition – and for which it sees the paper release of its catalog – refers to those undefinite places and contexts, fantastic places in which to get lost, places of escape from reality where freedom is experienced by rediscovering that sense of union and harmonious cohesion with the environment. Places that reveal the personal perception of the world and the authentic emotional experience, where the “self” is transported by osmosis into a timeless and “placeless” space.

The call is aimed to photographers, opened to any style, genre and subject.

Call For Entry: The Abstract Image

International Submission Deadline:

The Abstract Image highlights the transformative power of abstraction in photography, allowing us to break free from reality and explore the myriad possibilities within non-representational states. This theme invites artists to push the boundaries of photographic art by exploring alternative, experimental, or even accidental elements of the captured image that exhibit photography’s ability to serve as a conduit for visual metaphor and personal expression.

The Abstract Image is an international open call for artists ages 18 and older. All forms of two-dimensional images, traditional, and non-conventional media, black and white, color, conventional, or alternative processes with a subjective analog or digital photographic base are welcome for submission.

As theories of visual culture demonstrate, since ancient times the iconographic image has been a very important form of transmission and diffusion of human knowledge.

Starting from the late Victorian period, photography became a fundamental medium for scientific research, fully responding to the need to catalog and bear witness to inquiries into the natural world. Being photography considered a means that offers an objective vision of reality, when combined with data and texts, it is welcomed by the academic environment as an ideal means for the documentary transmission of scientific results.

In the fields of botany, anatomy, and in the study of behavior, micro/macroscopic observations, etc., contemporary technology offers more and more tools that help us understand the world, tools that broaden our perception and determine our awareness of it.

The call for the exhibition Nature Exposed intends to collect photographic, video and digital visual works that offer a glimpse into the natural world through the display of elements, flora, fauna, organic processes and behavioral dynamics.
