The Valley of the Moon Music Festival, a Bay-Area 501(c)(3) organization, is seeking a part-time consultant to maintain and update the organization’s website, design email marketing campaigns, and create social media content. The work is flexible, parttime, and remote.

The Content Creator will work in collaboration with the small year-round festival staff. We offer an exciting opportunity for a creative consultant to support a team of talented staff and other consultants, as we embark on planning for the 9th season and the 10-year anniversary in 2024. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Collaboratively create, edit, coordinate, update, and maintain content for website, social media channels, email marketing, and other digital communication platforms and programs.
  • Ensure consistency across all platforms in compliance with our brand, design, and content standards.
  • Ensure that digital communication content is current, consistent across platforms, accurate, and visually appealing, and that it is posted and removed in a timely manner.
  • Perform related duties as requested.

Job Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university in Digital Communications, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Web design: 1 year (Required)
  • Social media marketing: 1 year (Required)
  • Graphic design experience in print or digital media (work samples required)
  • Working knowledge of WordPress
  • Working knowledge of MailChimp
  • Ability to adapt to an established visual aesthetic and suggest improvements
  • Social media skills including Facebook, Instagram and YouTube
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Willingness to collaborate and revise work as requested
  • Sense of humor

Desired Additional Qualifications: 

  • Experience in video editing a plus
  • Knowledge of classical music

Commitment:

The Valley of the Moon Music Festival (VMMF) is seeking a full-time Managing Director to support the operations of its annual summer festival in Sonoma, and to help VMMF realize its vision, fulfill its mission, and achieve its goals for artistic success, financial stability, and community engagement. The Festival is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a small year-round staff and additional seasonal staff. VMMF recently completed its 8th annual festival, expanding its programming and exceeding its ticket sales goal.
 
This new full-time position offers an exciting opportunity for an entrepreneurial minded professional to join a team of talented staff, artists, and board members, as we embark on planning for the 9th season and the 10-year anniversary in 2024.
 
Commitment:
This position is a permanent full-time job at approximately 40 hours per week, with additional hours leading up to and during the summer festival. Willingness to participate actively year-round in the Festival’s activities and events, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends, is very important. Ability to live and work in Sonoma from July 14-31, 2023 is required. Housing during that period will be provided if the candidate does not live in the Sonoma Valley. This position is remote and we have a preference for candidates from Northern CA.

Managing Director responsibilities include:
 
General administration
·      Manages all Festival production, ticketing, marketing and event timelines and works closely with the Artistic and Music Directors to adhere to deadlines
·      Works with Music Director and Finance Committee to oversee the annual budget
·      Oversees hiring of contract staff, contractors, and interns, and identifies the need for the above, in collaboration with the Directors
·      Attends Board Committee meetings: taking notes, following up, and holding all timelines for committee action items.
·      Ensures that all Festival materials and communications are in keeping with VMMF’s artistic vision and mission.
 
Development
·      Works closely with the Board to set fundraising goals, and oversees progress toward these goals
·      Identifies prospective new donors and grant opportunities to extend and expand the organization’s resources
·      Manages all aspects of the year-end fundraising appeal and all other fundraising campaigns
·      Secures all wine partners and food donations for the summer festival concerts and acts as day-of contact person for vendors
·      Coordinates advertising and list exchanges with performing arts organizations
·      Identifies new grant opportunities and manages the grant-writing process
·      Manages the submission application for the annual grant from the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors
·      Engages and motivates the staff in fundraising
·      Manages gift processing and year-end appeal campaign in Little Green Light (LGL) donor database and generates tax acknowledgements
·      Generates regular fundraising reports to the Directors, Board & Development Committee
·      Manages Tix and MailChimp databases and periodically syncs patrons between them and LGL
 
Events
·      Acts as principal event producer for all onsite and offsite events and concerts; works closely in coordination with the House Manager, Box Office Manager, Stage Manager, piano movers, photographer, and sound and recording engineers
·      Coordinates at events and concerts with all vendors and suppliers
·      Secures rental items for all events and all necessary permits and licenses including ABC licenses
·      Manages Festival and other event volunteers.
 
Artist liaison
·      Creates artist contracts in collaboration with Music Director
·      Manages all housing arrangements in Sonoma for artists, staff, and other special guests, and facilitates communication between hosts and guests
·      Drafts all informational materials to artists and Apprentices regarding housing, transportation, scheduling, etc.
·      Acts as point-person during Festival for artists and apprentices logistical questions and issues
 
Marketing and community engagement
·      Serves as a public representative for the Festival in Sonoma and elsewhere as appropriate; actively seeks partnerships and community collaboration
·      Works with Festival Directors & Digital Marketing to coordinate audio and video promotions and materials
·      Ensures that all Festival materials and communications are in keeping with VMMF’s artistic vision and mission
 
Administrative (with admin assistance as organized by Managing Director)
·      Maintains organization of all Festival materials in Google Drive
·      Maintains ticket sales database including producing periodic reports and managing pre-festival box office
·      Collects, organizes & distributes assets for annual program book, website updates, and marketing efforts.
·      Actively maintains services, subscriptions & memberships
·      Sends private event invitations via Paperless Post and tracks RSVPs
 
Requirement/Qualifications:
·      Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in arts administration, music, or business
·      At least 2 years of event or project management experience, including managing staff
·      Experience working in support of a Board of Directors
·      Highly detail oriented and have strong time management skills
·      Exceptional communication and people skills, and is able to establish and maintain positive relationships with many different individuals and groups
·      Creative thinker and problem solver
·      High level of proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Excel, and Word
·      Familiar with IRS guidelines relating to nonprofits and charitable donations

Compensation:
Full-time / Exempt / Salaried commensurate with experience and in the range of $72,000-80,000 a year. Paid vacation and sick leave.
 
About VMMF
The Festival was founded in 2014 by cellist Tanya Tomkins, Artistic Director, and pianist/fortepianist Eric Zivian, Music Director. The inaugural summer Festival was held in 2015. The Festival takes place in Sonoma, California, over three consecutive weekends in July, and specializes in Classical and Romantic chamber music on period instruments. Each year’s Festival theme provides an overarching frame for experiencing the three weekends of concerts and events. Dynamic speakers put the music in cultural and historical context in the Blattner Lecture Series. The Festival also promotes and nurtures the careers of emerging artists through its Apprenticeship and Laureate Programs. In addition to the summer festival, the Directors and other Festival musicians perform around the Sonoma Valley and the greater Bay Area, in private house concerts and in series presented by other performing arts organizations.

Director of Development

Pacific Chorale seeks a qualified nonprofit development professional to serve as its Director of Development. The Director of Development collaborates with the President to identify, cultivate, and engage Pacific Chorale’s patrons to achieve our $2 million annual fundraising goals and to build and nurture a thriving community of passionate supporters. This person is charged with developing and leading the annual fundraising plan, including guiding the annual fund campaign and facilitating major gift solicitation and stewardship. In addition, this person will plan and manage the Chorale’s annual major fundraising events and several other small donor cultivation and stewardship events throughout the year.

Major Gifts Officer

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Actively develop individual moves management plans for a portfolio of approximately 100-150current and lapsed Leaders Circle Members who give up to $25,000 annually, including personal solicitation of education, Leaders Circle, Gala, and designated campaign gifts, with a predetermined portfolio goal.
  • Gain fluency with SFJAZZ Education programs and produce any related campaign collateral as needed. Work closely with the Education Department regarding program updates, integrating staff and site visits into donor cultivation, and identifying key opportunities for campaign messaging.
  • Identify and cultivate a portfolio of at least 20 new prospects for securing new annual gifts through both direct marketing and one-on-one engagement;
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director of Individual Giving to identify and introduce prospects for planned giving;
  • Set, manage, and meet aggressive targets for annual gifts, developing an effective pipeline to the major, campaign, and planned gifts program. 
  • Track cultivation and stewardship activities for your portfolio in the Tessitura database.
  • Work with the Associate Director of Individual Giving Director and other members of the Development team, and other key SFJAZZ Artistic, Operations, and Production staff to produce and staff special events such as receptions at concerts, salons, meet and greets, and our annual gala.
  • Conduct and document systematic prospect research.
  • Provide support to the Chief Executive Officer, Executive Artistic Director, Director of Development, and Associate Director of Individual Giving by creating donor/prospect briefings, proposal materials, and other major donor communications. 
  • Support the Major Gifts Committee and other select Trustees in the cultivation and stewardship of their designated prospects for Annual Fund and campaign goals;
  • Represent SFJAZZ in the concert hall and in the community, and at donor events.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four years+ fundraising experience, with a focus on individual donors
  • Ability to conceive, plan, and execute a major gifts program, including annual giving campaigns, special events, and direct and personal solicitation;  
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Extensive donor database experience, knowledge of Tessitura highly desired; 
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products and Google-based business products, and a working knowledge of procedures for donor research;
  • Superior interpersonal skills, ability to engage professionally with volunteers, colleagues, and donors;  
  • Available to work weeknights and weekends, often multiple times per week;
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in a timely manner;
  • Respect for sensitivity of donor information and a strong sense of fundraising ethics; and,
  • Strong work ethic, professional manner, and appearance in representing SFJAZZ.

Donor Services Coordinator

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Working with gift officers, produce and distribute outgoing solicitation and stewardship mailings, both digital and print. Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Analyzing/establishing criteria and extracting accurate mailing lists from the Tessitura database.
  • Managing regular mail and email renewals, and pledge reminders for individual donors at the membership, digital, Leaders Circle and Board levels.
  • Working with vendors, mail houses to coordinate and complete large mailings.
  • Overseeing the timeline, assembly and distribution of all special donor mailings such as season catalogs, event invitations and newsletters, in conjunction with Marketing Production Manager.
  • Coordinating the fulfillment of donor gifts such as CDs, art work, etc.
  • Coordinating volunteers for assembly and distribution of mailings and other projects.
  • Research and implement potential efficiencies or opportunities in solicitation and stewardship activities.
  • Assist with compilation of analytic reports.
  • Review reports to ensure accurate entry. Provide support in gift entry as needed.
  • Update constituent information in Tessitura to match SFJAZZ business conventions as necessary, including returned mail, customer service issues, etc.
  • Create and maintain a regular report of department collateral and event materials; Communicate with department fundraisers any issues or concerns regarding inventory and future projects.
  • Provide front-line customer service (in-person, online, over phone), including intake of donor gift inquiries, processing customer service issues generated via web or store, and direct follow-up with donors.
  • Lead Tessitura testing. Research, troubleshoot, implement best practices for SFJAZZ’s database. Work with vendors as needed to implement better database workflows.
  • Provide strategic lists and extractions to maximize fundraising campaigns and gala efforts.
  • Manage database improvement projects, create new workflows as the program grows and train colleagues on new processes.
  • Ensure SFJAZZ’s database and colleagues uphold high standards of data consistency, integrity, security, and accuracy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Hands-on experience with a database is required; Experience in Tessitura and OTT (Vimeo, Youtube subscription support) is a plus.

  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse array of constituents.
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive documents.
  • Professional demeanor; tact and diplomacy are imperative.

After School Band Teaching Artist

After School Band Teaching Artist
RAA Teaching Artists lead music classes offered every Saturday at the Cesar Chavez Community Center and after school classes offered at select Riverside elementary schools. Students receive high-quality music instruction and mentorship at no cost to their families along with loaned instruments to use for the duration of the program. Riverside Arts Academy is an El Sistema USA member organization. Teaching Artists get exposure to a wealth of opportunities including practical, in-person music education experience, masterclasses, work with our Music Director, Dr. Nove Deypalan, professional development opportunities such as attendance at music teaching symposiums with El Sistema USA, YOLA National, and the LA Conducting Workshop.

Approximately 4-10 hours a week. TAs will also attend select group planning meetings prior to and during the program.

Eligibility
Bachelor’s degree in progress or equivalent experience

Experience in live and virtual music teaching and performances

Specific Duties
Execute lesson plans during weekly Riverside Arts Academy music classes
Ensure students are attentive and productive during music class sessions and performances.
Communicate with parents on student practice requirements, individual goals, and future performance details.
Collaborate with other Teaching Artists and their respective music classes to ensure students are progressing consistently.
Collaborate with other Teaching Artists for group performances.
Support students in their class with positive teaching practices that encourage social-emotional growth.
Other responsibilities as assigned

Teaching Artist reports to the RAA Music Director and the General Manager. All positions and their availability are based on current organizational needs.
