Submit your original poetry, political cartoons, short comic strip, short fiction, or Art-related guest article for print in 1UV MONTHLY Magazine. It is free to submit your original work. Publication is at the prerogative of 1UV. If your submission is accepted you will be notified.
1UV MONTHLY is also seeking regularly contributing columnists for recurring Art and/or local Culture Columns.
1UV MONTHY MAGAZINE REGULARLY CONTRIBUTING COLUMNIST TERMS & COMPENSATION
The initial commitment/term to write/submit a column for publish in 1UV MONTHLY Magazine is a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 12 articles over an agreed upon 12 month period. Articles may be between one and three pages single spaced 11 point Helvetica font additionally with up to 3 accompanying graphic jpeg files with caption/credit documentation. After the initial 12 months it may be agreed upon to continue the agreement for another 12 months (subject to agreement at the conclusion of each 12 month period) or to pass the column to a new writer chosen by 1UV MONTHLY Magazine.
Only one writer will be assigned as Contributing Columnist to any one specific column. 1UV MONTHLY Magazine provides/defines the Column Title with Concept/Premise. The Column, including Title and Concept, remain the property of 1UV MONTHLY Magazine, 1UV Gallery Studio, and The American multi-disciplinary conceptual fine Artist, Craftsperson, ReiKi Master/Teacher & licensed non-denominational minister, Larissa. At the end of each agreed upon 12 month commitment to write it may be agreed to extended the commitment or for a new writer appointed by 1UV MONTHLY Magazine to take over the column. The titles of the individual articles and the text of the articles themselves remain the property of the Contributing Columnist. 1UV MONTHLY Magazine may quote, mention and/or other wise re-publish the article(s) at any time during and/or after the duration of writing agreement with the Contributing Columnist. 1UV MONTHLY Magazine will agrees to always credit the Contributing Columnist. All articles submitted for publication by the Contributing Columnist under the Title and Concept of the agreed upon Column are required to be original content created without the assistance of AI and not previously published in any format. Once an article is published and made available to the public in print by 1UV MONTHLY Magazine the Contributing Columnist has rights to re-publish and/or quote the articles at their discretion in any format and agrees to include in bibliography, footnotes, annotation, and other formal credits or acknowledgments the statement:

1UV MONTHLY Magazine will not edit the articles of a Contributing Columnist. In every issue 1UV MONTHLY Magazine publishes the statement:
The views of Contributing Columnists, Guest Authors, Advertisers and Larissa are not necessarily shared. 1UV MONTHLY supports, practices, and advocates The First Amendment of the US Constitution.
1UV MONTHLY Magazine also agrees to publish a photographic headshot of the Contributing Columnist with a three line bio to accompany each article published. The headshot photo may be taken by 1UV MONTHLY or provided by the Contributing Columnist. Headshot photos provided by the Contributing Columnist must contain the face of the Contributing Columnist, no nudity, and no other persons or animals. Each article submitted for publication may include up to three photos. ALL photos submitted for print in 1UV MONTHLY Magazine MUST include caption and photographer credit, even if the photographer is the columnist. If a photo has been previously published in a format unrelated to the article this credit must be provided. Headshot with three line biography including link to Contributing Columnist’s personal website can be included on 1uvmonthlymagazine.net (site to launch 1/1/26).
When submitting articles for publication, the Contributing Columnist agrees to send the text of the article, copy and pasted, in the body of an email to larissa@1uvgallerystudio.com The subject line of the email to include: Title of Column, Title of article, author’s last name. Photos (JPG files) must be submitted as an attachment to the email containing the coordinating article. Email must also contain captions for any photographs, including credits, at the end of the article. Only 1 article may be submitted per email. Article submission emails should contain no other messages or notes. Any questions, comments or concerns should be submitted in a separate email to larissa@1uvgallerystudio.com. Contributing Columnist may choose to write and submit all articles upfront as a group of emails at the beginning of the agreement or pace the submission of the articles over the period of the agreement. Submission deadlines for consideration for specific issues of 1UV MONTHLY Magazine are listed publicly at this link. If multiple articles are submitted on one date or in close succession it will be at the discretion of 1UV MONTHLY Magazine in which issue the article(s) will appear. 1UV MONTHLY Magazine will notify the Contributing Columnist via email in which issue(s) their article(s) appear at least 1 week ahead of print release.
1UV MONTHLY Magazine will provide the Contributing Columnist with at least five print copies of each issue of 1UV MONTHLY Magazine in which their article(s) appear. Such copies may be delivered by Larissa in person or via USPS flat rate priority mail to an address supplied by the Contributing Columnist. 1UV MONTHLY Magazine also posts a digital version of each issue (available for a fee) on the first of each month on 1uvmonthlymagazine.net. If the Contributing Columnist wants more than five (gratis) print copies of any one issue of 1UV MONTHLY Magazine they will be required to purchase them at the cost of printing plus $3 USD. Cost of printing may fluctuate based on the market price set by the printer. 1UV MONTHLY will provide the Contributing Columnist with proof of price of printing upon request via email. If the Contributing Columnist purchases additional print copies of 1UV MONTHLY Magazine (at printing cost + $3USD) they are permitted to sell those copies at their discretion for up to $15 USD + tax and retain any profit for themselves. Each issue of 1UV MONTHLY Magazine has an ISBN printed on the back cover purchased by 1UV MONTHLY Magazine. The price of each printed copy associated with the assigned ISBN is $15 USD. The price charged to consumers on 1uvmonthlymagazine.net covers website fees, printing fees, ISBN registration fee, and shipping. It also provides a small margin to be available for if/when a Contributing Columnist sells a print copy.
In addition to publishing the Column at the expense of 1UV MONTHLY Magazine, 1UV MONTHLY Magazine also agrees to print, on the behalf of the Contributing Columnist, a 1/2 page color ad in all issues in which the Contributing Columnist’s articles are published for any services, events or goods for which the Contributing Columnist is sole proprietor, legal partner/owner (subject to available space in any individual issue). Such an ad must be submitted by published submission deadlines listed later in this posting.
Distribution: At this time 1UV MONTHLY Magazine orders 100 saddle stitched color printed copies of 1UV MONTHLY Magazine each month. These copies are distributed by hand by Larissa, at/by partner businesses, by 1UV Gallery Studio direct targeted domestic and international mailing, and by other individuals who support 1UV Monthly Magazine’s work (including Contributing Columnists). It is also distributed for a fee on 1uvmonthlymagazine.net. 1UV MONTHLY Magazine is promoted in the 1UV Gallery Studio (1uvgallerystudio.com) bi-monthly e-newsletter. As the magazine grows more print copies may be printed.
1UV MONTHLY Magazine is also seeking Advertising Sales Associates at this time. The position of Advertising Sales Associate is compensated by 25% of advertising sales made by the Associate. A Contributing Columnist may agree to sell advertising in addition to writing their column. Writers who are not Contributing Columnists are also welcome to submit work for publication in 1UV MONTHLY Magazine as a Guest Author. The difference is, publication for Guest Authors is purely at the editorial discretion of The Editor In Chief and not guaranteed for publication. Contributing Columnists submissions are guaranteed for publication. Guest Author submissions can be submitted at this link: https://forms.wix.com/f/7152068084830831112 Contributing Columnists may submit work as a Guest Author while in agreement to be a Contributing Columnist. Work(s) submitted for publication by Contributing Columnists as a Guest Author does not count toward the number of articles agreed upon for publication in a 12 month period as a Contributing Columnist for their designated Column.
ALL WORK submitted for publication must meet the criteria of being original content created by the person submitting without the assistance of AI and not previously published in any format to be eligible for publication.

ABOUT:
Located in a spectacular, peaceful setting at the base of Mount Tamalpais and surrounded by redwood and oak trees, O’Hanlon Center for the Arts (OHCA) is a well-established creative haven for artists and writers, having a 50+ year history in Marin County. Just across the Golden Gate Bridge, OHCA occupies 3 acres in a quiet neighborhood in Mill Valley one mile to downtown with easy access to many of the world-renowned hiking and mountain biking trails on Mount Tam.
Our location provides artists of all disciplines to explore, create and reflect on your creative process away from the hectic demands and constraints of daily life while still being able to take advantage of the conveniences a vibrant town that hosts three other exceptional art galleries and three live performance and theater venues. Being able to work in a private, natural setting provides artists an unparalleled opportunity to step away from distractions and focus on their work. If more stimulation is desired, we are just a 20-minute drive to San Francisco and Oakland.
As the residency is intended to be a working retreat, partners/spouses, family and pets are not permitted.
Our residency supports and encourages a collaborative atmosphere among fellow Artists in residence as well as with the membership of O’Hanlon Center for the Arts. We welcome a broad range of creative endeavors. For 2025 we are focusing on the written word.
OHCA has evening gatherings, discussions, and exchanges with various Bay Area artists at the Center and online. The residency will conclude with a day or evening open studio event. This event will be open to all OHCA members and the wider Bay Area community.
