Summary:
The person in this role works within the Audience Development department, reports to the Senior Manager, Content Marketing, and works in collaboration with a creative team of producers, designers, and marketing experts to develop strategies and tactics for engaging new Independent Lens audiences that stream the PBS documentary series on YouTube. Responsibilities include: Managing the delivery of the Independent Lens portfolio distributed on YouTube in partnership with PBS and public media stations; managing the operations and maintaining quality control of ITVS and Independent Lens YouTube channels; launching promotional, branded and original content on the ITVS and Independent Lens YouTube channels; and guiding brand cohesiveness as a key member of the Content Marketing team.

Brand Management
- Partner with the Content Marketing team to develop audience and distribution plans both on YouTube and across social channels to increase viewing and subscriber numbers.
- Maintain publishing schedules in partnership with internal content stakeholders, including Independent Lens production, distribution, creative services, and content marketing teams, and external partners like PBS.
- Enforce branding guidelines on ITVS-owned YouTube channels.
- Develop goals and derive insights from YouTube analytics, monitoring sentiment and comments on videos, creating reports as assigned.
- Drive YouTube Search Engine Optimization strategy, tags, and metadata, analyze audience and industry trends, and identify topics for video creation, such as optimization of titles, descriptions, and keywords for search and discoverability.
Channel Management
- In partnership with PBS, manage the distribution of 15 to 20 long-form Independent Lens programs and 5 to 15 short-form programs annually on the PBS YouTube channel.
- Manage daily Independent Lens and ITVS YouTube channel operations, including reviewing and responding to comments, identifying cross-promotional opportunities, creating playlists, maintaining a content calendar, and retiring content with expired rights.
- Identify and execute publishing excerpts from Independent Lens and ITVS content on YouTube.
- Ensure all content uploads are on schedule and meet technical specifications, including but not limited to content titles, thumbnails, chaptering, and metadata.
Community Management
- Serve as lead community manager, working with content producers to respond to audience questions, comments, and conversations on two-way platforms.
- Support Content Marketing unit with social media preparation, community management, blog article creation, and newsletter campaigns as needed.
- Collaborate with internal and external creators and agencies to ideate and manage Independent Lens-branded content.
- Collaborate closely with the Marketing and Publicity team to ensure content deployed across Independent Lens digital platforms aligns with strategy to achieve targeted outcomes.
- Write effective metadata and copy for content distributed on YouTube channels.

Getty Marrow Media Arts Intern
The Getty MUI Media Arts intern will work in the Frank H. Watase Media Arts Center (MAC), which is dedicated to furthering JANM’s mission through unique documentaries, innovative exhibition components, and video life histories that preserve and share the Japanese American experience. The Intern will participate in the creation of media components for the museum’s upcoming films & exhibitions, educational/public programs, and website, social media, and YouTube channel. In addition, they will experience developing and producing their own short film/Capstone Project in line with JANM’s mission. They will receive hands-on experience and training in preproduction development, cameras, sound, lighting, livestreaming, editing software, motion graphics, and archival media formats.
Upcoming Exhibition Media Content:
1. Reimagined Core Story: JANM’s redesigned main exhibit looking at Japanese American history from immigration to today will feature many new media components, including installation pieces tied to specific artifacts, videos of modern day solidarity and protest, and short documentaries focused on cross generational stories.
2. Nikkei Car Culture: This exhibit explores the impact Japanese Americans had on the Southern California car scene, from box car racing and car clubs in the fifties, to the rise of import/tuner culture in the eighties and nineties, to the reappreciation of Japanese classic cars today. The media components will include interviews with car aficionados from multiple decades, footage of classic car shows, and archival racing footage.
For all of these projects, the intern will assist in conducting research and interviews, scouting and shooting B-roll footage, transcription, logging clips, digitization of archival materials, and editing, all of which will significantly contribute to the final pieces.
Media Arts Intern Requirements: Video editing experience (using Final Cut Pro X and/or Premiere Pro) and experience with video cameras is strongly recommended. Competency in digitization/digital asset management, including scanning and editing photographs in Photoshop is desired. Strong research and written communication skills are critical. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are essential. Familiar with Google Suite and MS Office.

Prospect Art’s 4th WALL—a network of international organizations that promote video works—is currently looking for video works for our 2025 programming, “Affective Territories, Alternate Belonging.” Entries will be considered for physical exhibitions in Los Angeles and Lisbon, and on-line screenings through Prospect Art, a not-for-profit arts organization based in Los Angeles. Selected works will be provided a screening fee and may be included in other opportunities within the network in the future .
We are looking for visual artists at any career stage who work in the medium of video from anywhere in the world. The works can be experimental, non-narrative or narrative as long as they are in the realm of video art, are conceptually based, and relate to the theme of the show, co-authored by Prospect Art’s Curatorial Fellow Prima Jalichandra-Sakuntabhai, and Prospect Art’s 4th-Wall Program Manager Pedro Inock.
Affective Territories Alternate Belonging
We are seeking video works that challenge traditional notions of belonging beyond colonial borders. We welcome submissions of works with an emphasis on countering hyper-mediatization in the post-internet era, works that question the true nature of our globalized society, that explore emotional connections to land, ancestral memory, and communities beyond conventional boundaries. This open call advocates rejecting digital orthodoxy. It invites video works that explore the subtle “line” of affective territories, aiming to redefine globalization through interpersonal connections while highlighting the significance of tenderness and belonging in a post-digital society marked by network individualism.

Production Coordinator
Summary
The person in this role reports to the Senior Manager, Short Form Content, and is a member of the Programming and Production Department supporting the ITVS and Independent Lens (IL) production teams with an emphasis on Short Form Content. Responsibilities include: supporting the management of a robust portfolio of high quality and diverse multi-format programs including feature-length and short films, short-form series, and IL multi platform initiatives; maintaining data management systems and delivering reports; assisting with day-to-day administration; and providing contracting support. This position also supports department related administrative activities including meetings, workshops, annual planning and budgeting.
Specific Duties
- Support the Senior Manager, VP of Production, Executive Producer, and Supervising Producers in the delivery of a portfolio while adhering to PBS editorial standards.
- Work as a key liaison between the Programming and Production staff and the Audience Development teams (Distribution, Engagement & Impact, Marketing & Publicity) in the project management of programs
- Assist with the timely and efficient delivery of programs, and seamless distribution via PBS and other public media digital and broadcast platforms, journalism outlets, and other key distribution partners.
- Maintain schedules for IL and support and ensure the adherence to rapid production and distribution schedules in coordination with producers, distributors and other departments.
- Support the contracting and administration of IL multi-platform initiatives, including shorts and series for PBS and participating journalism outlets.
- Review proposals for prospective projects and help manage the IL submissions process.
Set up, update and maintain project records in Netsuite and Asana to ensure compliance with department standards and to help build departmental capacity, as assigned. - Participate in creating and implementing workflows; documenting and maintaining best practices; and collecting and analyzing records for departmental information and data systems including but not limited to Netsuite and Asana.
- Assist with filmmaker and producer communication, drafting payment letters and notification emails.
