Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, YOUTH ARTS COLLECTIVE, INC will offer a year-round after-school Arts Education and Mentorship Program which provides individual mentorship and hands-on-instruction with professional artists in a safe and supportive community. Students build artistic skills, achieve academic success, and learn life skills for success.

Organization Summary

Youth Arts Collective (YAC) provides a safe, inclusive space for arts exploration with tailored individual mentorship by professional artists. Students develop art and life skills, build confidence and life-long relationships, and become part of a supportive arts community. For 23 years, young artists ages 14-22 have thrived under YAC’s motto: “Do Art. Be Kind.”

YAC is as much about community as it is about art. YACsters come from all walks of life and learn from each other, often forming long-lasting friendships. They also become grateful to the greater community, feel valued by their support, and learn to give back.

Working side-by-side with professional artists, YACsters develop their creative capacity, explore education and career goals, and learn entrepreneurial skills. They are respected for their differences and their characters – for exactly who they are, and they are coached in the values of compassion and diversity, gratitude, and service.

YACsters develop artistic skills in any medium of their choice. The variety of artistic mediums brought to YAC by the mentors gives strength and depth to the developing skills of the YACsters and opens doors for artistic careers.

Under the powerful mentorship of professional artists, YACsters learn the benefits of pursuing higher education, and professional skills for success.

YAC provides:
