With support from the California Arts Council, William James Association TeamWorks Program will deliver on-going weekly art classes on-site at Marin County Juvenile Hall in the Loma Alta High School classroom. WJA will also pilot evening youth art workshops at a new site providing post-incarceration services and continuity–in a neighborhood where the highest percentage of Marin’s system-involved youth reside. Funds will cover fees and materials for four teaching artists and one youth intern.
Prison Arts Project hires artists to provide in-depth, long-term arts experiences in prisons & jails. Meaningful arts experiences prepare participants to successfully return to society, reconnect w families, gain social & communication skills & opportunities to give back thru the arts. Community Youth Arts Project (in Santa Cruz County) and TeamWorks Art Mentoring Program (in Marin County) provide arts intervention for high-risk, under-served and disenfranchised youth in Juvenile Hall and Alternative schools to promote creative expression, self-discipline, and community engagement. Unlocking hearts and minds with bold, original theater, Poetic Justice Project is dedicated to presenting theater that examines crime, punishment & redemption. WJA’s Fiscal Sponsorship Program assists emerging nonprofit groups and community organizations by providing grant-related admin. support, tax-exempt status & fiscal sponsorship.
