With support from the California Arts Council, the VAPA Foundation will coordinate with the Center for World Music to bring culturally responsive music residencies to 4th grade classes at seven schools in San Diego Unified School District, focusing on music of Central and South America.
The Visual and Performing Arts Foundation (VAPA Foundation) is dedicated to revolutionizing arts and music education in San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) elementary and middle schools. Since its establishment in 2017, the VAPA Foundation has championed the vision that every student in SDUSD should have access to meaningful arts experiences.
Our flagship program, the Arts Access Initiative, addresses disparities in arts education offerings by identifying classroom needs and collaborating with school administrators and teachers to enhance arts education at their sites. In partnership with the San Diego Unified School District’s VAPA Department and the nonprofit arts community, we implement tailored arts programming in schools with limited arts education resources.
Through the Arts Access Initiative, we strive to create equitable access to arts education, reaching thousands of students who would otherwise miss out on these transformative experiences. Our approach is data-driven and community-focused, ensuring that our efforts are strategic and impactful.
