With support from the California Arts Council, URBAN COLLABORATIVE PROJECT will facilitate three workshops. “Family Splatters, Every Human is an Artist and A Challenge to be Free” Each workshop focuses on the development of self -Identity, Self -discovery and self- expression through painting, drawing dance and poetry. Our goal is to cultivate the development of transferable life skills such as critical thinking, improvisation, problem solving, leadership, collaboration and trust.
We engage communities primarily through “Action Teams” that identify community problems, using community resources, with community solutions.
Our Teams focuses on major Disparities within our Community.
Our areas of focus are: Art, Health, Education and Safety.
Art Action Team program: co-creating a Youth Leadership Academy; which uses art and other creative processes to learn, and create Community.
Improvement Projects within their Community. 9-10 week program.
Co-created with community a Gathering Place that provides green space, entertainment art workshops for families and children, skateboard design classes (summer), spoken word events, etc. Our Gathering Place creation alone transformed a vacant lot on one of our busiest thoroughfares in our Community. Which resulted in a 10% decrease in crime in the communities we have created gathering places.
