With support from the California Arts Council, UNITED AMERICAN INDIAN INVOLVEMENT will fund two tuition free projects. 1) The Summer Camp Arts Program – 5 days of watercolor classes, twice a day at our yearly summer camp. 2) The Community-based Youth Art Program – 6 week 2 hour workshops for traditional art projects. For LA Unified School District students, the art will be shown at the Indian Education Program art exhibit at the Autry National Museum and City Hall for Native American Month.
United American Indian Involvement, Inc. (UAII) is a 501c3 private nonprofit Urban Indian Health Organization (UIHO) and the largest one-stop provider of American Indian and Native Alaskan human and health services in the L.A. County. UAII offers the following culturally sensitive services (many on site): cultural activities and workshops (including beading, regalia making, drum & dance, pow wows, sage picking, sweats, talking circles, cultural education, GONA), a health clinic, an LAUSD high school, after school programming (sports, tutoring, field trips, etc.), workforce development, substance and alcohol abuse counseling, substance abuse and suicide prevention for youth, a food pantry, child and family counseling, integrated care, family preservation, child abuse treatment, prevention and aftercare, domestic violence/sexual assault program, select financial assistance, transportation, emergency hotel vouchers, and a summer camp.
