With support from the California Arts Council, TUSTIN AREA COUNCIL FOR THE FINE ARTS will underwrite the cost to transport over 1,100 elementary school students and their teachers to attend a music program, designed specifically for children, performed by the South Coast Symphony. They will experience music performed by a large symphony orchestra performing music from a variety of genres, as well as an interactive, multi-media music and art performance.
Each year TACFA, along with 140 volunteers, puts on “Broadway in the Park”, a professionally produced musical, with affordable ticket prices that attracts nearly 5,000 people. We organize a student art competition and exhibit for middle and high school students with over 200 entries that offers prize money to students, and stipends to their teachers. We provide the funding to send over 1,000 Tustin 4th graders to a symphony created just for children. We provide funding to nine Title 1 elementary schools to enable them to have art education in their schools. In addition, we provide scholarships to help graduating high school seniors to continue their art education. We assist with funding of a local chorus and art education seminars. TACFA sponsors a Plein Aire, and photography competition for local artists, and an all-media juried exhibit and competition. Our Artscapes program seeks to provide public art sculptures that will enhance the beauty of Tustin and an appreciation for art.
